F-94B Starfire

Hi all,

This is a small project I always wanted to do. The Starfire was one of the first onboard radar jets and saw little action in the end of the Korean war. For a long time the US Air Force would forbid its flying over enemy territory to avoid the risk of having its radar falling in the hands of the enemy.

I used the T-33 as the base aircraft and made a nose and pipe job. Thanks to CWatson we had a new flight model and it´s armed with four 0.50 cal machineguns.

The Starfire must work on 4.09 amd 4.10 versions

Wow! One of my favorite "Backyard Fighters" models I had as a kid! It blew away alot of Revell "Bison" bombers coming in to bomb our house in the San Francisco Bay area
in the 50's.

Thanks !I just must give it a try-hope it works with Dark Blue World!

All those rockets in the nose caused all sorts of Revell S-type glue fires in the invading hords of Commie Bombers & their Mig-15 escorts ( who musta had extra long range tanks to get them all the way to California!)

Thank you for all your hard work.

Re: F-94B Starfire

Texx this may be a bit of guilding the lily , but is there any hope of the rocket nosed version, the F-94C I think? It seems to me it was loaed with a dozen unguided small rockets ( Tiny Tim?) that could be salvo'd at the incoming formations of Russian Bombers flying in over Alaska. If memory serves ( & sometimes it doesn't ..) this idea was eventually dropped because the heat of the rockets did some damage to the nose & fuselage of the plane plus other performance problems.I believe the F-89 Scorpian had the same rockets, but , of course in pods in the wings.
In its model form from Revell it had a very cool 50's decai on the nose ;a deco shooting star with Lockheed & Starfire emblazoned on it.I hope some enterprising skinneer tackles that & other squadron markings for this short-lived bird at some future date!

Re: F-94B Starfire

Hi Dietz, the F-94C is sure a very interesting idea!! Imagine trying to shoot down a bomber and getting blind for the amount of smoke coming out of the nose born rockets :D

I have not thought that far regarding the C model. It´s quite different from the B, a good second nose job would be needed and I would have to figure out how to make the nose doors open and close. Another important thing is that I depend on CWatson to arm these babies, not to mention some other works on classfiles.

I guess it also depends a bit on our own schedule of things. We have other projects currently ongoing that are costing a good amount of energy from us, but I am sure these projects will be much appreciated by the community. Keep an eye open, some of this projects might be out soon :)

I had a model of that when I was young. I also recentl;y saw a film on tv with John Wayne that featured some footage of it. In one scene, the female russian pilot (the love interest of course - she was wasn't very convincing either as a russian or as a pilot - and why on earth would the USAF in the fifities let a russian defector fly their front line aerioplanes? Sheer rubbish, but at least it had some good period flying sequences.) ejected her passenger on the ground deliberately so she could fly without supervision. Interesting to see an ejector seat in use although I can't be sure it wasn't Hollywood fakery.
