Guys seemed to like the racing background so I thought I would post the prepared background as a simple "Edit This".

If you are looking for racing skins, M4T has an entire section of them. Make your own racing skin if you are a skinner. You could put in a bipe or even something silly if you want to. :!: :wink:

racing skins got loads, cutting planes out hmm that's tricky lol

Actually, Raptor, if you get on to a few tricks, cutting is fast and easy. I'd say anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes for a clean and precise cut depending on the plane and the angle. I'll send you a Pm, M8 :wink:

A tip for this kind of shot: The smoke usually comes from the engine exhaust so the smoke would generally come from the engine area and cover the underbelly of the aircraft. No big deal, just something to consider for the future :wink:

Air racing involves flying a path around and between pylons and is about who completes the laps first. Aerobatics is about performing aerobatics perfectly within the confines of an imaginary box which goes up into the air. So, there is a different focus for each and, hence, different types of aircraft are used

The racers fly souped up monoplanes, kind of like NASCAR. The aerobatic planes may be bipes or monos but are more focused on torque, agility and the ability to handle a lot of G forces without being ripped apart! In fact, engine torque is necessary in order to perform some of the aerobatic moves! :wink:

A P-51 or Corsair body with a hot engine is fairly common for racing whereas something like an Extra 300 or a purpose designed Sukhoi aerobatic aircaft is more of what you would find doing aerobatics. 8)

I thought that the smoke, which launched the aircraft in the acrobatic exhibitions, came from any device generator, not from engine exhaust.

Well, I did some research, Berserker, and found that BOTH methods are used :!:

At one end of the spectrum there are fuel additives which will generate smoke from the exhaust and at the other end of the spectrum there are dedicated smoke generators which are completely independent from the engine and the exhaust 8)

For planes that have bomb or missile racks, there are self-contained smoke generators which are housed in what looks like a bomb or a sidewinder missile. So, take your choice :!:

Most of the racers I've seen, the smoke appears to be coming from the engine exhaust. Maybe that saves weight and keeps drag low as opposed to an independent system. I dunno :?:
