I have made some advances in my semi-released GameMapRadar MOD that many of you already know.

The main addition here is a frontal radar view, as the ones corresponding for all the Nachtjagers with antennas at the nose.

The mode change is with the right button and a contextual menu.

The zoom is controlled with the mouse scrollwheel. Sorry to the people who don't have it but it's a "de facto" standard nowadays (I know that obviously are special cases).

The images are self-explanatory:

Normal map mode:

Navigation map mode:

Radial radar mode:

Frontal radar (Nachtjager) mode:

Installation: trivial, just extract the folder in the .rar to your MODS folder.

Enjoy and give me some feedback.

New Version 2.3 available

New in V2.3

-Fully implemented brief, flight data and notepad background.
-Rotating beam in radial radar mode.

New in V2.2

-Mispell corrected in text.
-Added scale and grid text as corresponds.

New in V2.1:

-Refresh rate for radars set to twice a second, it makes a much more reasonable "slow response", giving more the feeling that you are not watching at something artificially calculated.
-Now the NoIcons difficulty setting affects the radar too. If a campaign has it set, you won't be able to see anything in the radar neither.
-Now Ships appear in Radar screen. Land units no, and it is because in primitive radars is absolutely impossible to distingish ground surface objects in land.
-Minor calculations change. Bug when pilot dead hanged the exit from the minimap has been corrected.

Known incompatibilities are with:

-Zuti MDS MOD. Once I made it compatible but with different versions of MDS it should be re-writen each time and is too boring.
-Ecran Wide, it works but generates some distortions.
-Frog's Formation MOD : we are working on making a standar version with Frog.

Perhaps when the Zuti MDS is released in the DT official 4.10 patch, we'll have a uniform standard version and it can be made compatible?

Yes, when the official version was relaeased and evertyhing has been standardized, I will create a version of the MOD absolutely compatible, but because then it would worth the pain.

Yes Orko, I'm going to implement that but before I'm waiting Zuti to make compatible things between us.

thing that puzzles me, is , why normal mode has no longer the coordinates (b2,b3,b4)? those were really useful during massive multiplayaing

I think that those coordinates that you refer are the ones that in some maps are printed in the map itself in the border. Not all of them have it, and as soon as you start zooming it up, they are not shown anymore.

I haven't changed the "normal mode" at all, there shouldn't be any reason that could do that.

I tried using your Mod but it is causing the game to drop to desktop at 70%?

I am running HSFX4 with 2_ecran_wide and a host of other mods too many to list.

from my experience that is not a problem with Ecran Wide but with Zuti MDS. Check his last 1.2 beta version which has an implementation of my MOD integrated on it.

One of the sweetest little mods...if only I could figure out how to understand the radar...but really thanks for this mod!!
Hello, i really like this mod, even though it seems to hang my sessions every now and then (about 1 in 10 i would gues).

In that case somewhere during the mission the display freezes, the sound keeps going and i cannot stop the mission or IL2.
I have to force close IL2 with taskmanager.
It does not matter in what mission or plane it is (now already in 4 country's en several planes per country).

After i change it back to my old map mod (old minimap version) i never get this problem.

I'm working with UP2.01

Does anybody else have this problem or even better: a solution?
