Two questions:
1.) Generally most new maps seem to work in UP i.e. I can save FMB missions & play them in UP more often & it seems more hit or miss in HSFX...why? Is this just part of the difference in the included objects between the two? Do I need to download a bit more into HSFXobject mods?
2.) In my UP install I seem to have a Maps folder in Files & Mods ( both full of maps)...is this necessary or just something I managed to mis-manage along the way? Do I need them both? HSFX isn't the same I don't think? Where ideally should I be installing new maps in Up?
Many thanks for your patience ( hope this doesn't really belong in Tech help or under Maps section discussion... )

p.s. A question I've always wanted to ask : does it matter if I double enter info into the different .ini files? Say one of the objects installs is already in the UP install & I mistakenly do a new install of same along with all the additions to the .ini files as well.Does this screw things up?
(Ok that's three questions...)

I think you know the general rule, Dietz, that anything in the MODS folder will supercede anything duplicated elsewhere, and anything in the Files folder will supercede anything duplicated in the .SFS files.

The general advice for adding things to the base UP install is to always put it in the MODS folder, so that you don't mess up the basic UP install, and can always go back to stock UP by simply disabling the MODS folder. I would apply the same rule to HSFX as well...always use the MODS folder and leave the base install alone.

So, short answer, no it doesn't matter if you duplicate .ini entries, as long as you are aware of, and working in accordance with the foregoing rules of precedence.

I think in general I have applied that rule...does that mean in UP install, I can disable the Maps folder in the Files folder with no ill effects ...or should I leave it there & continue to add maps in the Mods? Mapmods /Maps folder??

No, you should leave it there as is. Don't disable it, and don't mess with it.
(In my opinion)
