Hello Guys !!

Hey Uzin, I'm happy to see well trained eyes Big Grin But this twist is already there, no more and no less than the real blade. Different blades types or brands have different twisting degree, it depends on the speed ( RPM ) they are designed to turn, for the thurust they should give etc.. finally, blade angle ( pitch ), twist, lenght and chord ( width ) all depends on which application you want it to be optimised for. Just take a look at turbine fan blades, boat prop blades and wind turbine blades to see what I mean.

The prop you showed me is the Hamilton Standard used for in the B-17 notably, the Hub is 23E50 type and blades are 6477 ( Hamilton Std reference )

And the twist is exactly like that, I know it's hard to judge from those shots, but you'll see when you'll got them in the game.

I would love IL2 support the pitch change, and especially when feathered, that would add visual immersion when you feather a prop on a multi engine bomber for example. A

Anyway, thanks for your remark Uzin, that prove you are getting interested and I like that Big Grin

BTW, I nearly finished the Ham Std 3 bladed Hydromatic Propeller series.

From left to right ( first shot ) :

- F4U-1 Propeller , thin blade root, and going wider and wider, 23E50 Hub and 6525 Blades : http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... _1944.jpeg
- F4U-1 Propeller , looks like the B-17 one but longer and wider blades
- B-17 F or G Propeller, 23E50 Hub, 6477 Blades
- C-47/DC-3 Propeller , 23E50 Hub

The B-25 one is very near to the DC-3 one, with more rounded tips.

I think its great work, I like the way they look even the damage ones
And they will for sure be welcome in IL2. Big Grin

Hueyman

Thanks, they look just the original ones.

shardana

amazing! great work indeed!

Gumpy

Can't wait for first upload Hueyman, they realy look good.

Dietz

Very enthusiastic thumbs up!

Hueyman

Thanks guys :Smile)

Hey Dietz, your bent 109 E prop will come soon after ;-)
Hi!
Many thanks, you ara doing much appreciated and nice job they look much better than the default propellers in game.
is it possible(maybe not possible!) to change the rotating propeller 3D model (PropRot1_D0)? so that from side it looks like on this picture.

(like propeller do when you look at it from the side not as they do in IL-2 Sturmovik 1946).
I think changing the rotating propeller 3D model will add more realism to the game.
I know that it is very demanding, so you can consider it as a suggestion. 8)
Hey Hueyman, here is a short summary of how to import a propeller to IL-2, in this case from a Corsair:

- First, you need all three files of the props: Prop1_D0.msh, Prop1_D1.msh, PropRot1_D0.msh.

- To get those files, you have to extract them from the SFS file of IL-2, using the SFS Extractor.

- But once extracted you can not work with these because they are binary file, you need to convert it to text.

- You can convert them to text using Buggy-Buggy importer-exporter or MshConverter.

- Now can edit text files to incorporate your propeller to Il-2.

- To incorporate your propeller you need using Buggy-Buggy:

- But before you do not forget the mapping of propeller, the new mapping must exactly match the original mapping:

- And also do not forget the pivot point, you should export it correctly so that the propeller turn well:

Hello, here is my try to the F4U-7/P-47 Hamilton Prop.

Ton, I downloaded SFS extractor and Msh converter, suceed to extract Corsair 3 prop files, but dunno what is buggy buggy and etc..

@Stuka : I'm 1000 % agree with you, I want that pitch side view, but I don't know anything about that in IL2, the good thing would be a la CoD ..

http://obrazki.tnttorrent.info/tnt24.in ... 89105.jpeg

And moreover, if the 3D view could change in depth accoriding to pitch change, and static prop aspect change to a premodeled feathered position, that would be sweet ;-)
Great work, looks very nice. Big Grin

Again great props.

- Buggy buggy is a plug-in for 3ds Max used to import objects from IL-2 on 3ds Max and exporter on IL-2
You have it here:
http://allaircraftsimulations.com/forum/...67&start=0
A small tutorial:
http://freeil2modding.free-forum.net/bug...vt210.html

- The mapping is for correctly assign the texture to the object, it is often a work very laborious.
In IL-2 the texture of the propeller is located in the skin.
You should make an exact mapping to the original so there are no errors with the texture of the propeller.

- Pivot point is also very important, it determines the point and direction of rotation of the objects.
In the case of propellers and very importantly, you should export the pivot point correctly so that the propeller rotates in the correct axis and also having the correct direction.

Great Work Hueyman, Thank you for updating !!!

And Ton, Thank you too for your help and the last pic. You can really appreciate Hueyman's work !!! 8) 8) 8)

This is much better after than before ;o)

Keep it up on the good work !!!
