First post to this forum, thanks to anyone who can help with my trouble shooting this -
I have a gameing laptop as follows: Gateway P-7809u, Intel 2.53 ghz Duo Core x64, Nvidia Ge Force 9800 GTS, 4 GB RAM, Win 7 Home Premium [upgraded from original Vista]
I am presently pursuing the Tweaking/optimizing offerings of fireskull in this forum and have been optimizing only for performance with OpenGL. After editing the conf.ini and graphic card settings, I thought to dload the 4.52 software for my CH Products controllers. I mistakenly attributed a problem to this so I ended up uninstalling the 4.52 and re-installing 4.51. At this point I began to experience some joystick delays during dogfights, pulling up or moving the stick back [I only fly offline at present]; No hesitation appears in the controller calibration window, and it is an intermittent problem, not continually present.
I shortly thereafter went to DirectX from OpenGL, seeking aircraft performance improvements, my main goal of the aforementioned tweaking (for my computer, the DirectX is much preferred toward this end, ie precision of aircraft flight performance, especially at lower speeds vs pc performance re stutters, visuals, etc. , though I will further test OpenGL with setting changes) I uninstalled 4.51 and then attempted to install the CH Products software from the CD. I ended up creating some confusion to say the least, with scores of devices, Aux device, USB installed along with a flurry of drivers. I used Revo uninstaller, and think I have succeeded in removing all the devices, drivers and files from my computer, and am presently using my joystick and pedals with Windows game controllers to isolate the problem from possible CHPrdts corrupt drivers, etc.
I still am experiencing the intermittent elevator (only notice this axis interruption, obviously the most critical; may be all the axis). I experince this in other flight simms I have as well, so it's not Il-2 related per se. I need help identifying the possible sources of the control device interference. I saw from fireskull and other sources that certain conf.ini or graphic card settings can cause delays, so I'll try reduced settings. Here is my other causes list as I can see:
1) improper uninstalling of CH Products software/drivers
2) conf.ini and graphic c settings - lower 'load' [though my present settings are modest, again aiming at performance increases]
3) possibly related to switch to affinity mask=2 [??]
4) possibly related to Windows 7 Upgrade install over Vista
5) possibly related to a system glitch - some months ago I inadvertantly attached an Mac based wireless modem cable to my pc; seemed to cause a jumble at the time and the computer has been somewhat erratic since then, ie, desktop icons load slower, items load slower, nothing major but I've thought to go with a complete install of W7, but hoped to avoid this. I didn't encounter the joystick controller problem until just this past week as outlined above.
6) possibly related to the refurbished CombatFlight joystick having a defective sensor, but it's only 4 months since I had it repaired.
Any insights as to other causes or how to isolate the source would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for your time,
p3
Last month I received an email from Aviation Author Steve Pace asking if he could place one of my photos of a P-51D Gun Bay Door Bore Sight Configuration within the Armament Section of his current book project called "Mustang, Thoroughbred Stallion." That photo will be in the book for sure, but it get's better. He wanted to view more P-51 photos I've taken it it turns out this shot below will make the cover, here's what Steve and his editor said:
From the editor:
Hey Steve,
My man, this is the shot of the century! Me like.
From Steve:
Hey Mitchell,
Scroll down – your amazing photo will be on the cover of the book!
Every time I've spammed you guys with photos I've been supported and acknowledged and I thank you all for it, words cannot describe how much I thoroughly appreciate your comments.
And always, Blue Skies and Happy Holidays.

Dcg running great! . . . one last (I hope) problem.
I just a completed an intercept mission that turned into a huge furball. Half my squadron was shot down along with many enemy aircraft. I ended up landing back at my airfeild, badly shot up, but un-injured.
I shut down my engine, ended the mision and got . . . nothing to debrief (?!?). The map shows lots of red and blue planes crashed in flames, but no mission results were saved.
Logbook says : mission scrubbed 0 minutes.
This happens about a quarter of the time. Any ideas ?
Does anyone know if the Saeitek X-52 is compatible with windows 7(64 bit) and IL-2?
OR-- Does anyone have a suggestion of a good joystick for winows 7 for around $100.00
THANKS in advance for any help,Tom
Hi there. This is a complete redo of my old Swiss campaign, which I made in 2003 or 2004. It is now using correct map and planes.
Readme :
Quote:Hello friends !
The old ones probably remember the old Swiss campaign I made on FB back in 2003 (or was it in 2004, I do not remember...).
In those old days, it was necessary to make adaptations, because there was not the correct map, nor the planes available in the game, etc...
But now, thank to the great work this fantastic IL-2 community has made through the years, it became possible to completely redo this campaign. And now, there is in only one thing missing : Swiss "rewards" !!! If someone feels like he was to do them... please feel free to do so !!! but in the meanwhile, I used the French ones (medals, if you prefer). You will have to deal with it !!!
But this time, you will really fly the workhorse of the Swiss Air Force of that era, the ME-109E-3 (we do not say Bf in Switzerland, but ME), and not E-4... and on a much more adapted map, because I used the zip_Alpen_west one (and a huge thank to Zippzapp !!!), which is much more better than the one I used in the past (Smolensk). For the rest, what more can I say ?
Well... first of all, a big thank to all the modders, skinners, maps and planes makers from all over the world. I will not name them, because they are too much, but if they play this campaign, I am sure they will recognize their work. Then, a big thank you to Oled Maddox and all 1:C team, who gave us this fantastic sim which becomes old now, but is still the best one !!! Also, a big thank you to the SAS community (http://www.sas1946.com/main/indexphp), the place where you can find most of the international IL-2 community, in peace and friendship, and to Checksix (http://www.checksix-forums.com/), home of the French speaking community. You will always be welcome on these 2 places, and if you gently ask for something there, there will always be a friendly guy ready to help you or do what you ask for !!! I know it, because it is what I sometimes do...
Now, how to install :
-download and unzip this package in a temporary folder,
-then, copy-paste the 3 folders you obtain (Missions, PaintSchemes and samples) in the root of your IL-2 game (for example, in C:\games\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946), or anywhere is your IL-2 installed,
-open the English briefings folder, and copy-paste the Missions folder into your game : it will over-write the French briefings to English (well... should do so...),
-launch the game go to campaign mode, search for Switzerland where you will find a campaign called "ME 109 over the Jura (modded)" or "ME 109 sur le Jura (moddée)", depending if your game is in English or not.
Compatibility :
This campaign will work only if you have a UltraPack 3 RC4 (or more) version of the game. The UP3RC4 is available at SAS (http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php). It should also normally work on a DBW install, as Dark Blue World is installed on the UP3, but I did not check it out.
So now... have fun !!!
