Spitfire Mk.XIV - Nightshifter - 24.12.2007

Years ago a few pictures were released of an external model of the Spitfire Mk.XIV for the IL2 Series, for whatever reason it was never finished (not sure if the cockpit was never made or something like that).

Question is, anyone know who made it and would it even be possible to implement it into the game, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't mind using a Mk.IX cockpit to fly this thing.

I think it was Fievel. Gibbage used to be in touch with him, but I believe he just stopped responding to emails. No chance of getting it in the game right now.

I would get rid of most of the planes in IL-2 just to have this baby 8)

I couldn't believe it was not finished and that Oleg hated Gibbage's Spit F.22 which went to Mircosoft instead :twisted:

Let's see... I'd give a couple of sturmoviks, one of the He-162s, the Lagg-3 RD, one of the Mig-9s, the rocket powered La-7s and Yak-3s... and others...for this! Sad

As I understand it, Mr Faucon, its not quite that simple... apparently (and this is an Oleg statement, and we all know how wrong they've been proven) the cockpits position is such, due to 3D modeling errors. If the cockpit is placed in a different position, apparently you see massive holes in her.

As for the MXIV - what IS the possibility of implementing the 3d model into the game these days - has the position gotten any closer to being a happening thing?

Remove guns, put 3-bladed proppeller on it and you get Mk.I* :wink:

I have been waiting so long... What do we need? .MSH files? If I know, it's possible to add new plane in 4.05, not just overwrite the existing one. How was the Mustang mirror added? New .MSH files were placed into plane's directory and some changes were done in .HIM file. Have you seen the pictures of Mk.XIV? It has textures => skin has been made. Now have to get the .MSH files and skins..

Sheddan, I have nothing against your request. But you dont prefer to wait for SoW and then get a real Spitfire MkI?

Magpie => I was just waiting an answer. I thought it would be hard to make this mod but I wasnt sure.

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (2,1 GHz)
2 GB RAM (533 MHz)
Sapphire Radeon X1300 Pro (256 MB RAM)

Sheesh, thank God we never got this one officially, looking at other models in the game, F-22 Raptor would have to use full burners to try to get away from it... :lol:
