in cockpit sound effects - papote - 06.02.2008
http://files.filefront.com/In+cockpit+e ... stallation:
these files go in:
in IL2-46/SAMPLES/MUSIC
delete all the files in Crash, TakeOff and inFlight folders.(back up if you wana keep the silly music) and replace with mine
these sounds add ambient when sitting in the cockpit
some i had a while back from someone else(birds chirping)
but i made the in flight wind effects.
the 4 files in the in flight folder are the wind effect and they wil play in sequence.
to hear these effects you need to have the music "ON"
in the sound settings, now its up to you how loud you want the effects.
you can adjust the volume of these effects with the music knob.
best way is just to set a quick mission and start in the air, listen to the wind- from there you can hit ESC and get to the sound settings where you can adjust with the MUSIC KNOB how loud you want the wind effect. you want to have the wind slightly audiable.
all other sounds(crash and take off sounds) are ballanced with the wind effect.
the reason for this is IMMERSION BABY!

The folders "Crash" and "TakeOff" containing the same file.
Takeoff.wav (548kb)
- papote - 08.02.2008
yes thats normal you can put in there what ever you want.....but thats the way i have it.
try it out, really the thing i like most is the wind effect while flying, you should adjust it so its barely audible over the engine at full power so as just to catch glimpses of it as you manage your engine. youll see how much it adds to the immersion.
try it out and tell me what you think...i think it rocks

I'll agree - the wind effect while flying does, indeed, rock!!!
The startup I found a bit funny, I chose a scramble mission, and laughed when I heard the birdies chirping as my airfield AAA opened up on incoming bombers....sirens going off...hehe
Cool, but I prefer my current takeoff and crash sounds. The inflight wind effect is a keeper!
Cheers papote!!

Funny that - I dont have these 3 folders in samples/music folder either under my MODS tree or IL2 main - should I create them ?
- papote - 08.02.2008
bigbossmalone ... cheers
hey what are your sounds for takeoff and crash?
ive had these birds chirping for a long time and im off for a change. yeah the wind while flying its cool, im gona try to make it better. let me see what else i can think of.
can you send me your take off and crash sounds?
carlospapote1@aol.com
pomak249 those folders are standard installation of il2 46...... look in 46/samples/music.
you should have 5 folders in there. crash, intro, takeoff, inflight and menu.
what ever you put in there is going to play as the music for your game
- pomak249 - 08.02.2008
Crash, TakeOff & inflight not there ?? Strange !
- papote - 10.02.2008
if you dont have them, make them then. they are actual stock 46 intallation files

Hehe, those bird chirping and radio switching on samples were by me, for the Russian Female voice addon a couple of years ago.
I wish there was a way of randomising those or binding them to theatre or nationality. I've got a great one somewhere for Japanese cicadas, real Kyushu cicadas too. 8)

Bee, check out the in flight music randomiser at M4T - you just bring up the console, type in 'inflightRAF/USA/JAP/RUS/ITALY' whatever and it plays your pre organised sounds of choice for the chosen nationality, music or ambient sounds.
You can make folders for whatever you care to listen to - Pacific radio transmissions, Italian opera, just drop sound recordings into the file you want to use. I'm sure a chap of your calibre would have a lot of fun and immersion with it.

I'll second Low Flyer's suggestion.
I use the Music Randomiser app as wwll. Works like a charm!
