Fire Extinguishers on heavys very soon - Hellzone - 27.03.2008
Well at first i thought there was some security, but last night while i was talking to jolly i figured it was something that i was doing preventing it from working, im just here to tell u all about the great news.
and all the aircraft which had some sort of fire Extinguisher should be getting one. All B-17s too of course. They will be added in with a pack for example all the b-17's
I will keep you posted.

Brilliant news!

Hey i saw somewhere here that the Zeros had extinguishers as well.
What about it?
/it was the original topic about the extinguishers for the heavy's/.
- Carnagexxx - 27.03.2008
No need for that........let em burn
- Trooper117 - 27.03.2008
lol!!

There is no more satisfieng view than a burning B17 for me
- Hellzone - 27.03.2008
well i dont like the fact letting um burn. The zero had one from what i heard.
- spud - 27.03.2008
^ couldn't have been very effective.
That said, didn't they say it was the fuel tanks, not the engine? Regardless, without the all API/APIT belting that was common for the .50 cals, having zeros magically stop burning would be a bad thing, they rarely burn as it is (most break apart for me).
I'm not against them, don't get me wrong, as long as they are the right effectiveness. Since the emd files list a number per engine, are those "shots" for it? How effective are the extinguisher shots? How many should a given engine have? That sort of thing. I notice the TB-3 has 5 per engine.

So...What about it...Will you add some for the zero?

Before you add extinquishers to Zeros, check again using reliable sources which versions had them and were they for engine or fuel tanks or both. Maybe only later versions had then, or they worked only for engine fires.

This goes to my "Open Information" thread.
I think that any changes to FM/DM/weapons/etc should be very well documented in a readme. Ie:
Ie:
Extinguishers added to the following engine types (type, subtype, and number of extinguishers shown):
PrattWhitney_R-2000_Series:
R-1830-86
Extinguishers 2
and so forth.
That way someone who might actually have the data can see it and say, "hey, you have 2 charges on the 1830-86, but my pilot's manual here says it had 4 charges." If it is a black box, then someone with that data must instead post a question, "How many extinguishers does the 1830 have, I just got a pilot manual and it says 4 charges."
Easier to just be 100% open.

Great news!
Can't wait.

Spud thats why the spitfire has 8mguns rather then 6. We want every aircraft to fit in and have historical facts to it.
So if the b-17 did have 4 then so be it. Right now we are not focusing to much on the extinguishers. Once we are close to releaseing a b-17 pack it will have Extinguishers and sidegunners.
I will look into info tho, and spud any info u can get will help.

I have no idea on the B-17s, was just an example. If I find anything I'll let you know.
None the less, when such a mod is released, it still would be nice to see the specifics (like the fmd file).
