Plastic Fantastic - ArcticViper - 20.04.2008

I just thought I'd sort the forum a bit, and here's my contribution.

I'm thinking plastic scale models go here, other topics should cover other materials, paper, wood, cement, whatever you have lying around

Anyway, my hurricane 1:72 scale still WIP obviously:

I had a strong suspicion you'd be first to reply fly_zo Tongue (saw you browsing the forum)

Excellent picture.

Now, the reason I have the post-it there is because I'd just painted the wheel wells and it would catch any potential dripping, none of which occured

Seen in retrospect, yeah I should have flipped it upside down...

the shots of the A6m are very nice, just shows what clever lighting and thoughtful camera positioning can do! as for reminding you of the past i quite agree, before i got so into R/C i was a plastic model freak, come christmas morning i would be up in my room surrounded by paint and glue (and the fumes!) having a great time, i have since not had the time as i have been doing the bigger ones but i have recently bought a beaufighter and somewhere i have a 1/24 p51 that i have started, i will post my progress!

- Forager - 21.04.2008

ArcticViper, keep us posted on the Hurricane, OK?
I never got into 1/72nd scale, I am too clumsy for anything under 1/48th Smile
The larger scales are cool but take up too much room for guys like me who cannot seem to stop cranking them out.

Good pics of that Zero, fly_zo. It was kind of sad what happened to that Japanese kid in the movie, he wanted to fly so much.

The last one I finished was an A6M2 with Sakai markings from 1942.

Here's another of my old favorites:

Forager, I'll keep it updated, I'm currently exam occupied so as soon as that's done I'll go get some paint, so I can finish it off

By the way, I've put the canopy, pitot tube and some droptanks since that pic was taken, and I'll take the next pic in a more interesting enviroment than a green post-it

Dunno if I should keep the Droptanks though...

Ah well, I'll get to a decision point soon enough though... now all I need is some white, yellow, blue, red, black, grey, basically all the colours since the only colours included were 2 shades of brown, and a green colour...

The P-40 was a conversion...resin fuselage combined with kit parts from the old Revell P-40E

"Tiffy" is the old Revell kit...

The Albatros DV and NI28 were multi media kits...1/24th scale...

DVII is 1/28 Revell kit...

Hurri is the 1/24 Airfix...

The last model I actually completed. Started a couple more, but haven't touched them in years. Anyway, my Revell 1/32 scale F4U-1A with some added scratch built details.

stansdds...very nice Corsair!! Built that one myself a couple o' times...!

- RAF_Magpie - 02.05.2008

Well, just managed to steal a digital camera for the evening (yes I'm a tight ass Wink) and here's the only finished model I have down here (the rest are back at my fathers 600km away). I recently got back into making models, and started with a corsair, so I figured I'd make it a Kiwi corsair, markings made from a mix of RN and RAF markings, with the help of a hole punch Smile No weather as of yet, but plan to practice that on my clipped wing MkVc Spit I'm making; so tips anyone? Smile

And here's the pride of the TV cabnet (sorry for the dark/use of a flash, I didnt think of doing this during the day time till after I pulled out the SD card). Model is an academy 1:48 scale kit.
