Mod: "New Battle of Britain Hurricane & Spitfire Sq - Steve T - 05.05.2008

*Sorry for putting this in the wrong section!*

Hello fellow BoB fans:

I've just finished a mod that adds 40 new squadrons to the game, plus custom skins and MATs and it thus allows all 52 Hurricane and Spitfire squadrons that fought in the Battle of Britain to appear in game with historical skins and markings (at least as far as the limititations of the game allow). As an added bonus, I've included Spitfire Mk. I skins for use in Compans' "Under the White Rose" Campaign. The base skins I used are by CanonUK and Kristorf. I've just sent it to Mr. Jolly and it's being tested by a couple of people too, so hopefully it will be uploaded soon.

You can still obviously use whatever skins you want for your unit, (the ones included aren't too bad though ;-) ), but it should give mission makers the option of having other "supporting" RAF fighter units appear in historically correct markings without having to provide hundreds of skins. It's basically "Multiskin" from Battle of Britain II imported into IL-2, so any percieved historical inaccuracies are down to the BDG ;-)

Anyway, here's a taste of it:

I'm off on holiday for a week or so now, so won't be around to answer any questions, not that I could anyway as I'm no expert!

Cheers

Mate, that!s awesome!! I play BoB2 a lot, and Multiskin is a marvelous thing, you don't have to create/ download thousands of skins, every aircraft is historically correct by default. I'm looking forward to this mod of yours very much!!!

Steve, are you MY SteveT of EAW? supose that yes, still using your skins for my EAW BoB installation, amazing mod this one!!

Although, I don!t know if it can be corrected easily or not, be careful, because the Kiwi emblem was only on Al Deere's plane, the KL-B. Same thing with the bee on 1 Sq. Hurricanes. It was only on the plane JX-B (B for bee) according to Tim Elkington, member of 1 squadron.

Update sent to Mr. Jolly!

Thanks for that Info Reflected. I've sent an update to Mr. Jolly. Because of the way I've done the mod, you can't specify a code letter other than if you build a specific mission using the skins, however, I've included the skins with the emblems so you can do this, plus default skins without the bee and kiwi so you can have a choice.

Guilty! Glad you're still getting some use out of those -- seems so long ago now...

Thanks everyone for the positive respones, now I've got to go!

One more thing: I think the U should use another font, something less round. check this out:

The zipped one in the zipped one seems historically correct.

I don't mean to downgrade your work, I just think it's such a splendid idea, that it should be as perfectly realised as possible.
