Please , to alls modders ............ - Hunter1 - 25.08.2008
Think ever " The suchmodders is an idiot and i help you to install my mod "
- Brophmeister - 25.08.2008
Wait, what? :?

No idea.

I would guess that he's asking people to think of those installing the mods on their games.
Some of the modders seem to work on the basis that they know what they're doing so everyone should.
But some of the installation processes for the mods can be a little hard to follow.
Most are great, but there are some that could perhaps be a little more user friendly.

Yeah, that's what I think he means as well mate.

Yeah I figure for something as this is still in the state of evolution. I know there have been a couple of mods I've tinkered with for a couple of weeks to get running okay, but it sure beats the heck out of my initial experience late last year where one had to basically decompile and recompile the code to get the sound mod and 6dof working.
While not perfect, I give the Gents here at AAA a ton of credit for a system that works for most people. I'm certain that it will only get better as time goes on.

ok but every mod follows the same logic
once you've understood it, everything should work fine
I think many ppl lack very basic pc skills but they blame the modders
- RAF_Leigh - 26.08.2008

well, all official AAA mods installation process has been designed to be as simple as possible ( installers...)
and for Beta mods , well there must be a reason why they call them betas

I recently found out about this site and it's mods, and it isn't really what you call "user friendly" ,but i picked it up soon enough, once you figured out the basics.........what i had to find out for myself is that after you copy the folders of the mods into 1946 you have to dubbelclick the "insert" icon to actually install the mod,it isn't explained anywhere....(i couldn't find it..)
Probably this site started as a modders gathering, who obviously knew from each other what they were talking about?
Maybe an "Installing Mods for Dummies" is an idea?
- Lt.Wolf - 26.08.2008
Ah, righteo. well the install process has been as dummy proof as possible. Never fear it is about to get better.
- Forager - 26.08.2008
I thought the self installers qualified as "Installing Mods for Dummies" at least they work for this one.
I cannot understand why people insist on manually installing stuff if it has an installer and then wonder what went wrong. :?

I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to computers, but the whole installing maps thing, and some of the conflicts between mods have caught me out at times.
For example, when i first got on here, everyone was talking about looking in the files folder for the maps folder and modifying that.
I didn't have a maps folder in there!
So I pm'ed someone... cant immediately remember who (apologies for that whoever you were, it was very helpful) and asked about the situation and he told me that that was an outdated thread from before the wrapper, and that the file to be modified was now in the Mods folder.
Another example was trying to get the maps to work in the QMB. So I was searching things like Mod maps in QMB, or adding maps to QMB, and all the thread would talk about how they had the maps in the QMB, or how to add it, but none of them said that you had to have QMB+ installed as a prerequisite.
So I can identify with him a little... Some of the information if you wander around trying to find out for yourself can be a little difficult to follow, or is now outdated. But if you dont know what yuo're looking for, how can you tell the difference?
Perhaps the solution (if anyone wanted to do it) would be to put a 'dictionary' of the most commonly used files, their locations, how mods are installed, known conflicts and how they could be resolved etc....
Or even just a FAQ sticky for general Mod installation queries or requests for help with links to threads?
