how to load IL2 on vista? - pilotpimpf - 22.09.2008

Can anyone run through the procedure for loading IL2 on vsta, I have tried several times but always end up with a non functioning exe.
I believe it may have something to do with the securcom thing, this a disc bought in the UK.
Read somewhere there is an American exe which could solve the issuse but I know no more than that?

Some help would be appreciated as I have now got a m/c powerful enuf but vista stops me flying, damn silly o/s

Try this:
Go into "My Computer", and right click on the disc drive. Click explore in the drop-down menu. So now, you should be looking at three folders, 1033 1031, and 1066 0r something like that. Open the first folder, and click on autorun. This is the english auto-install. Disable all anti-viruses for this. It worked for me.

i dont like vista

and i want a new compiuter but i dont think you can get XP anymore

oh well thansk for this it could come in handy

- pilotpimpf - 23.09.2008

Thanks for the replies, ALOTEF, all I get on clicking the autorun in file 1033 is the spinning disc briefly and then nothing. So bump, can anyone else help out here please?

RAFLiegh..... read some where you need vista to run 4GB of memory, but then what do I knows ( shrugs shoulders)

Be nice if Ubi would offer a patch to fix this though, but in the mean time , help would be appreciated.

cheers Ray.

honestly, when i installed the game on Vista HP 64 bit, i didnt have a hick up

it must be the editions or the countries that Vista is running at, honestly i am not sure

You can try creating an XP-Partition and loading 1946 on XP. Then fire up Vista and run the game on the XP partition from Vista. Also, load the game in a seperate manually created directory called 1946 or something similar.

pilotpimpf i pm u some instructions which might help you m8. and yes apparently alot of these problems are caused by the securom

- fadius - 24.09.2008

luther01, why not post in the thread so others can use it to help them instead of having to ask again.

- pilotpimpf - 24.09.2008

Thank you very much everyone for offering help, great community you have here.

I have been sent some instructions (me dunce) so I can follow them easily and hopefully it will spring into life, I miss flying.
I have all the discs from the demo upwards and this is the first time I've ever had install problems.

I will post back if succesful and once again thanks everyone for responding .

Cheers Ray.

hi fadius. sorry the reason i didn't post is because im not sure my suggestions are allowed to be discussed in the forum, on some other forums it cannot be discussed and i don't want to break the rules. it involves using cracked exe file from net. maybe someone can clarify if discussion is allowed on this subject

- fadius - 29.09.2008

Ahhh, gotcha, not a problem.

- luther01 - 29.09.2008

i just realised that there is no cd cracks available in the downloads section of the site for anyone having trouble running il2 under vista.

Well here we are again.......................

I have tried every fix possible with no luck, a combination of Vista and the damn security encryption on the disk has defeated me which is fairly easy to do!.
Disgraceful that there is no official fix for this as theres many people out there with the same problem from my researches!

The way I resolved it was to buy yet another disk from America second hand for $15 with out the encryption, it loaded straight away with no problems whatsoever..... go figure!

So now back to the laborious job of adding every thing to the new programme, no doubt there will be other calls for help along the way......... and many thanks to everyone who offered help, particularly Luthero1.

Many thanks Ray.

PS just found out about a programme called anydvd which is supposed to crack these encryptions, wonder if that might of worked?
