Spitfire XIV - Model MIA - goshikisen - 12.10.2008

I remember seeing screenshots of these models in a long ago update on the IL2 website. Anybody out there know what might have happened to the XIV? It looked like the modeller got far enough along with it to come up with two variants of it.

Speaking of MIA models... here's another interesting model (Re 2001) that seems to have disappeared. Gotta love the lines on those Italian aircraft.

There's quite a lot of models that were made for IL-2 but never incorporated...now, if we could get all those modelers to co-operate with AAA, we would be able to bring them into IL-2 without having all the 3D work....that'd be cool... Big Grin

Those late model Griffon powered Spitfires... just about the slickest looking piston engined aircraft ever built. Hopefully that model will resurface at some point.

Yep, those are the two planes I miss the most right now, possibly along with the Sparviero... Sad

Christ, what a beauty. This model must be sat on somebody's hard drive somewhere...

these are beautiful war birds Big Grin . the 5 bladed prop must make for some sick speed Big Grin (or some quickly overheating engines Sad ) makes it a unique airplane. The Re 2001 is a nice looking plane and could be fun to fly  . s why did these not get incorporated into the official release? did the developer not like it(if so he is a moron)? weird why they would take so much time to model it but not to put it in the game. i would love to see these planes come out as mods from the AAA team!

Rather cool markings for a 152 Sqn. SEAC Spitfire XIV

So nobody knows the whereabouts of the model and the modeller?

IT LOOKS SO GOOD

I WANT TO FLY IT NOW Cry Cry Cry

- Nightshifter - 13.10.2008

I posted those pics a long time ago asking who the modeller was and if we could find him etc. I'm pretty sure everyone tried their hardest to make it happen but with no joy so it seems we will never see this pictured model in the game

Here is another picture by the way:

.................however do remember that there IS a MK.XIV Spitfire being created by some of the folks here so we'll get it anyway Big Grin

Well, after some Google-work I was able to fing his nick - Nyme as you can see here : http://www.netwings.org/dcforum/DCForumID43/1360.html

And I have found another nick - Gibbage
http://www.acompletewasteofspace.com/mo ... ic&p=26994

That's all I have found, not much... Sad

That's a composite image I made years ago... still looks good if I say so myself.

Here's another image I made up around the same time.

I wonder if the new XIV that Nightshifter refers to comes by way of a new model as opposed to a modification of an existing Spit.

- Nightshifter - 13.10.2008

Thanks for the links dFrog, more images of that model can be found there which I had never saw before Smile

Nyme huh? It looks like he disappeared during the making of the Mk.XIV; Gibbage is still around but is a different person as far as I know.

goshikisen, your image certainly had me fooled - nice work Smile

The MK.XIV I was referring to from here is a modified MK.VIII, the guy that made the MK.VIII we have is AFAIK the same guy that was making the MK.XIV i.e. "Fievel".

From what I have saw of the MK.XIV that is coming from here, we won't know the difference Smile

EDIT:

"Fievel" was the one that actually made the MK.XIV model but apparently there was a lot of work still to do and he disappeared Sad

- Metatron - 13.10.2008

Gibbage is registered over at ubi, is there any reason he wasn't contacted?

Gibbage made the MK.Vb and MK.IX's that we already have, he's pretty close to Oleg as far as I can tell so probably wouldn't want to find Fievel even if he could - Speculation of course.

- dFrog - 14.10.2008

But it's worth trying...
