Helicopter's in Il2? - American - 28.12.2008
Fa 223
Would the Il2 game engine allow of this?
- IAF.116~Jagr - 28.12.2008
maybe someone would make a frakenplane of the Lerche?
it has two engines
this could work!
- =JFC=BlackJack - 29.12.2008
Not an bad idea.
hope someone thinks about this one

let see here
He-111 front
the jet bomber (Ar-234?) nose wheel
He-111 body with changes to the rear
the rest must be custom made

My guess to the question is no.
In order for it to fly do you have to be able to tilt the rotors?
Not sure that there is any facility for this in the game engine.
Make a nice static for a 1945 airfield though.

no you could use it like the Lerche on its landing or take-off slight tilt foreward moves you foreward. tilt the plane (helicopter) back you move back.
This is from the 20th century not the 21st century they didn't have tilting blades

I'm not sure how it works, but the Lerche's controls work while hovering, so there must be something similar enough.

Without tilting blades it wouldn't be able to move forward.
- Brophmeister - 29.12.2008
Why would it be impossible to tilt the blades? They already had amechanism to alternate the pitch of a rotating propeller.
- IAF.116~Jagr - 29.12.2008
yes but thats pitch.
he said tilt. tilt is like on the Osprey
pitch is different but it don't help the lerche
- seaniebeag1983 - 29.12.2008
the only way i could see anything like this working in the game, would be to use a sort of Osprey design based on the lerch. Setting it up so that pressing the airbrake key would tilt the engines rather than the entire aircraft. But that'd look really out of place in the sim
Unless you just flew it around with the airbrake on all the time, which would probably be comparable in performance to the real thing.
Then again using that the lift would be coming from the centre of the aircraft and not the engines. And youve got to consider torque.
I recon a two rotor chopper would be too much for the game engine.

check out this, got a great pic bout half way down.

this is the bird i believe

I think the addition of helicopters would be a great mod, if it was possible.

The point is does it have to be perfect? I promise u we will never know the exact flight stat's of this Heli. I think the American one is more practical.
- Ace01 - 29.12.2008
use the lerch system, Heck finally a use for the useless plane!!
- American - 30.12.2008
So any body who knows about 3D want to try? Any 1? I'm pretty sure the controls won't be to much of a problem
- Hellzone - 30.12.2008
Problem with that is the control surfaces, i attempted it a while back. FM work and programing is needed. Lerch is a good base for it tho, model me the dragon fly and i will put it into service
