WIP Japanese Generic Skinpacks (with links) - Jaypack44 - 21.06.2009
Hi all, I've been considering doing generic skins for most of the Japanese a/c we have in game for a long time now, but haven't really finished anything besides the A6M2s and G4Ms... So, hopefully posting this will give me the needed kick in the butt to get started on finishing some skins. I have compiled a list of all the a/c I intend to do, the ones that I have already done (indicated with a *) will all be updated, and I will try to get all of the skins uploaded as soon as they are finished. Right now, some of them are pretty much ready for upload, while others are barely even started. Anyway, here is the list of the a/c I intend to do: most are using heavily reworked Jesters-ink templates, but I might actually end up making my own for some of the planes, such as the B5N and B6N (and possible H8K). All of these generics are intended for people who use matmanager or AAA's default skin mod (like me). I've always though the Japanese planes got shortchanged when it came to their defaults...
I am also looking for photos or profiles of "typical" paintschemes/weathering for each plane type, so that I can make them as realistic as possible. That includes common markings like tail bands, unit markings, style of insignia, and camouflage schemes/colors. Any help in this respect would be greatly appreciated.
*edit- the list is now arranged in "finished,", "WIP," and "not started" categories:

Can't await your skins because I like good made skins!
Will you also consider special squadron paintings and/or
insignias or something else?

So looking forward to this

This would be good...Ive never been happy with the ki-27 skins...or the a6m's, or (um) the ki-61. This is a good idea...I also like the idea of making the "generic" or typical.
Which pictures are you looking for?

Hi all, one more quick update, the A6M5 Skins have now been uploaded, and can be found here: mission4today.com/inde...mp;id=5127
Also, I had a lot of free time today, and spent almost all of it making a new template for the KI-61. I used a few layers from my old Jesters-ink template, such as the (heavily modified) metal layer, and the lines and some rivets. Internals were modified from a greg boyington skin, and some of the rivet patterns (the wing spars and forward fuselage) were "inspired" by Billfish's excellent WIP skins. The original post has been updated with screens, if anyone's interested

Keep up the excellent work!!

Please do the Ki-43 series as there seems to be hardly any skins about & hows the N1K1-J skins coming along, they look fantastic in them screen shots on M4T
Keep up the good work

Another quick update, and a bump to show that the original post has been updated- the D3A1s are nearing completion:
I decided to make my own template for the Val, which also includes some reworked internals, with parts by me, and some "borrowed" from a RONNCO skin.
And also, some quick progress shots of a WIP skin for the KI-43-II (my own template), but I can't quite seem to get it to look right, so I guess It's up to the response whether I decide to try to finish it or not:
let me know what you think

aaaaaaand... another quick update- Real life has been a pain lately (classes starting back up and a lot of really hard personal stuff going on...) but today I found some time to do a little more work on the KI-43 template- I'm working toward different options for generic schemes, including mottled, heavily worn/field applied (shown here) and natural metal schemes. I downloaded some new brushes for GIMP awhile back, and this was the first time I got to try them out. As always, any feedback of any kind is very welcome
anyway, here are the screenshots-

I managed to get a little more time to work on it today, and I've got a few schemes in progress. None of them are 100% done, but I just though I'd share- let me know what you think!
