Cut off Date For Mod Aircraft? - DevilDog - 19.09.2009
What does everybody want the end date for modded aircraft to be so eg Do people Want BAE Hawk (1974) to be in the game
So the cut off date for modded aircraft

What should really be asked is can we actually build planes from the 60's and 70's? I think 1955 is as for as we can go for now. Yes, a B-52D is quite quite possible for this sim but the F-4's that would have gone with them (to Vietnam) are not. But maybe a YB-52 or B-52A with Sabre's for support over the Korea map....
Okay, back on topic. Anything that greatly exceeds Mach 1 or requires complex avionics to keep it in the air is impossible (as far as I know).

So Planes like the BAE Hawk, Dornier Alpha Jet or the Gnat could be used for aerobatics
And B-52s for bombing
But nothing like the Saab Gripen, F-16, Phantom or The Mig 27 because of "Limitations"

"Good poll"
+1
"In my opinion" keep it classic!!!! No tanks, No F-22 raptors  :guncool:

i'd say anything before BVR combat

i think it's up to the modders though realistically the 50's is about the cut off.
- snailsave11 - 20.09.2009
I would defenitly like 60's aircraft especialy russian aircraft from that era, like mig-17, mig-19, mig-21, mig-25, Su-17, Tu-22 blinder, Tu-95 bear but also the rest like, the hawker hunter, Bae bucaneer, Bae lightning F4, F5, F8, F100, F104, F105, F106, F111, A1, A4, A6, A7, B47, B52, mirageF1, mirageIII, super etendard, ect.,ect,.... But I think this would only be realised after Storm of War, because I read at Sim HQ an interview with oleg that SoW could cover all of history of aviation!!! 8)

We want korea!

snailsave11, it was Blackburn that made the Bucaneer, and English Electric that made the Lightning, not BAE. Also, if we're going to be like that, I'd love to see the TSR2, a truly brilliant aircraft murdered by politics! But still, i afgree, i think stuff like that would be better suited to SOW

Your right about that. The bucaneer was originaly from blackburn, later on from hawker siddeley, with the lightning I got a little confused with something else. I would defenitly wanna see that one, although it never saw any combat I like the fuel tanks ontop of the wings and the engine configuration, stacked ontop of the other.
and don't forget the avro vulcan!!! I almost did

What about the Avro Arrow? That may be pushing it too far but maybe, just maybe....

Some piston-powered planes for me.
- Fusek - 20.09.2009
Personally I wouldn't use planes from after the Korean war. I think Korea suits the Forgotten Battles moniker. Anything after that gets very hard because of game limitations.
depends - awwscheist - 20.09.2009
It all depends on what you can make. If you can make a B-52 of any kind great (someone send me something if you are) but it is impossible to do an f-16 properly. It would be cool just to have something that looks like one to fly round, maby hive it HVAR rockets just to play with, but there REALLY shouldnt be a cutoff date. If you can make it, you should be able to post it. What I would like to see happen is a more flexible version of il2 that can let you build planes with higher or lowerspeeds, and let unrealistic planes fly.

Why???
