Great video clip.. superb cinemaphotography with CGI.. loved it

- biltongbru - 11.10.2009

Thanks for the Red Baron clip: Visuals are very good quality but it seems to be unrealistically crowded with too many planes.....the flight dynamics does not look correct either at times....I am sure the flight dynamics of Canvas Knights will be close to perfect. The best part of the clip was the shot close to the balloons...great detail.

- KG64_Ðørvånski - 11.10.2009

interesting, at :23 there is a German pilot, with the Star of David on his plane. He must be Jewish (like myself lol)

Red Baron (Der Rote Baron) had absurdly crowded skies and most of the time the flight characteristics/dynamics were laughable...practically cartoonish. Add on top of that a horrible screenplay and at best so-so acting and you'll understand why when it was first released in Germany it was a complete flop/failure. To the best of my knowledge, they've not yet even bothered to released it on DVD in the US or anywhere else....and never released it on the big screen in the US.

IF you look at the end of the movie it s write ,,,,,,

In ww1 many jewish pilot was flying for the german empire, lot of them became AS (aces) highly decorate , they are represented by the fictif pilot Friedrich Sternberg

I'm really partial about aviation movies. I tend to love them the first time I see them, just because they're aviation movies, and it takes another viewing to really see them for what they are. Loved RB the first time around, nearly wept the second time. It was still a hell of a lot better than FlyBoys and he fact that the red Baron could be so much better than FlyBoys and still be ridiculous should tell you a lot about the horrible, horrible movie that was flyboys...

Anyway, I don't mind being stuck with The Blue Max forever, because this one is bloody awesome Big Grin

Cheers

Nico

It is such a pity that this happened, from the clip it appears that a lot of money went into this production, This could have been a real stunner if the director had a bit of basic knowledge on flight dynamics and ww1 dogfights!

thanks Wiley for the clip on the classics; Blue Max will always be a favorite!

The only reason it wasn't released in America was because it wasn't a Hollywood project

I know that you are joking...but...for the record, like "Rote Baron", "Dark Blue World" was also filmed in Czechoslovakia(Czech Republic) and it was released in the US (limited theater release)and on DVD. That is a Great WWII movie, better than anything Hollywood has produced since "Saving Private Ryan" and the best air combat movie since Hollywood's "The Blue Max' (Thirty years ago!!!!)....though "Memphis Belle" 19 years ago was prety good

Joke/Horrible hollywood movies:

Pearl Harbor
Fly Boys
All of the "Iron Eagle" movies
Top Gun (Top gun training flights/sessions were good, exciting, but the story line and the MiG encounters were cartoonish and laughable)
