Dear Admin. I was wondering what the rule are regarding the alteration of a released aircraft. I noticed that the damage model for the B-17 could be improved. Im sure you have seen the grisly photos of what damage could be inflicted to the aircraft, such as this: [Image: Recall_B-17.jpg]

I figure, that I could possibly recreate some of that damage,but dont want to offend/step on toes. Thanks

If you change the damage 3D model just for yourself, it will still be some kind of cheat because it can make it 10 times easier for you to spot that you damaged that B-17 already, while others would have a harder time to know if it's damaged or not because all it has are small holes in the fuselage.

I think not just the B17s but also Fw 190's aswell
The best damage models are Tempest,all the 50's jets and the Fokker D.XXI and the ones I for got!!!

Okay, Mujo(sorry, cannot spell your name) But what if I redo the damage model, could I re-release it(giving appropriate credit of course)? OR would that tick someone off?

I think if we let some planes have gyro gunsights that didn't come with the game, we may as well improve the damage model. although, perhaps only textures and not the 3d model.

don't change older plane just make new or a copy of new and just modify the damage
example for the B-17:
juste copy the new B-17G (with more loadout) and modify the dommage if don't like them.
so no "cheat"

and i think all plane need best/new damage but with IL-2 (old old old game) we can't do a lot of thing (I think)

I think if you combined the B-17 with the new load outs and one with the damage you're suggesting all in a new slot, it would be awesome.

si on fait un nouvel avion, la personne qui ne l'aura pas ne pourra pas le voire donc ca ne sera pas de la triche.
c'est comme les BF-109 de l'UI 1.2 (les pocesseur de l'1.1 ne les verrons pas).
donc reprendre parexample le B-17 avec plus d'emport ou le B-17 simple (je pensais avec plus d'emport car il n'y a qu'

Okay, I got the model together, but it seems not to trigger.... Ima try to move it up to damage lvl 1 for a sec... any ideas...its not a new aircraft perse, so I dont need to create new .heir files and such...

*EDIT: Even at dmg lvl 1, its not showing.... I mean, one cannot shell should show it... if its set at that level for now.... Its renames EXACTLY the same, so I dont see the issue

Can anybody help explain to me the process of substitution for models. For the time being, I just wish to replace the CF_D2 model of the current B-17 model(This will be corrected after, I just wish to see how it appears) But when I place the model, it doesnt appear, even after being stuck by Mk108 shells. I mean, by far, they should appear(for instance, one of the effects, is that the tail is almost completely severed except for being retained by a few spars) If someone could assist it would be greatly appreciated. Admin, I realize this could be a bit iffy, please do not lock, I have 1000% plans to try and get this added as a new slot aircraft, but now is just trying to test the actually models.
