Are you saying that you can modify the load.ini of maps for straight 4.08? How?

so I got the new winter norway map running Ok....how can i add the Guadalcanal and Kuban maps you guys made to the map list in FMB too?

Ok here it is :
1. in maps"desired map folder" ... place your modified xxload.ini file ( note! name must be different than original load.ini)... in same folder you can have different load.ini files for that map as many as you like ( for example wload.ini...dload.ini...
2. in all.ini ...files\maps\ ... ( file comes with my norvay winter map) add your mod maps ( custom names are ok) like this:
Croatia Italy_DF/croload.ini
Norway Norway/load.ini
Norway_winter Norway/wload.ini
Kiev Kiev/load.ini
Manchuria Manchuria/load.ini
KhalkhinGol KhalkhinGol/load.ini
Burma Burma/load.ini
first goes your desired name than game map folder / nameof ini file
3. update your filelist for all created xxload.ini files
bonus: for diferent names of towns on the same map .... make xxtexts.txt file in map folder ...open xxxload.ini for desired map and replace name for texts.txt file... like this:

Thanks Fly...thats Ok with the Kuban map...but the Guadalcanal one is just a tga file with no .ini !!??

Hi everybody.
I continue my work about old maps. After Crimea, Kuban, Smolensk and Moscow (thanks fly-zo for your help to find correct name folder !!), I reworked on Crimea. A guy of my squad create a Crimea Campaign, and he need a winter version.
I choose to do the map differently as the traditional method. In Crimea there is very little snow, then I don't cover the map with snow texture.
What do you think about this :
But I have a big problem : I can't add this map as a new map like Normay_winter. It doesn't operate ... I don't understand why ... So I substitute the load.ini ...

While you guys have been taking care of the land, I've been looking at the sky.
I darkened the sky by removing the annoying 24 hour sunset. Also managed to make the high stratus layer much more dense. Haven't figured out how to reduce the mmon glow yet though.
The map is a separate install of the default Berlin Map (thanks Fly_zo for the how-to). In the second shot you'll notice the mini map is different. The idea is to make that eventually look like a radar screen, as I'm hoping to make a standalone nightfighter version of the game (more about that later). This will involve getting rid of the fake clear plastic overlay that the mini map has. Plus making replacement plane icons that look like tiny
blips.
If anyone finds out what .tga's make up the plastic cover and leather map surround, plus get rid of the grid lines - please let me know!!!

I changed the declination of the sun from 50 to DECLIN = 1
Also, I changed the existing appendix data to this :

The idea is to make a whole bunch of duplicate maps, each with different seasonal conditions. Both in the landscape and atmospheric. Also the in-flight map would be different for each. Several for example, would be obscured by varying degrees of 'Window'. Tin foil chaff dropped by RAF bombers to hide them from radar. I haven't nailed the look of it yet, but an example of the idea is below. A cloud of window is on the left. In the upper right is a single bomber.

1 - name your ini file (for example) "crimeawinter.ini" put this file in files/maps/crimea
2 - in file files/maps/ all.ini added line "Crimea_winter Crimea/crimeawinter.ini"
3 - in filelist.txt added line "maps/crimea/crimeawinter.ini"
4 - cherry on the cake, as we say in french : in file "files/i18n/maps_ru.properties" added line "Crimea_winter Crim

.... rename load.ini that came with kuban mod into xxload.ini .....
.... for guadal ..... copy original load.ini from extracted sfs files ... rename it xxload.ini ...
it's the same for all maps
