Freddy has also done a repaint of the P51D without the Gyro sight, but it has no bright reticle, like their here around on AAA.

Have somebody fixed that ?

Use notepad to open the file.

All I get is that the file is a shortcut and not an actual file. I tried to right click and use the open with option, but no options are displayed, just the OPEN option.

Thanks STARGAZER. I went back and tried a different avenue. I got it to work. Got to remember there is more than one way to open files. If the first one doesn't work, open the backdoor and toss in the grenade.

Hi BAD_GRANT,

Go to the folder P-51D-20(K14) wherever you placed it.
Look for the file Glas5.mat
change the line Under [Layer0] ColorScale 1.0 1.0 1.0 0.3 to ColorScale 1.0 1.0 1.0 0.1

Just the last number pair is changed from 0.3 to 0.1. If you increase or decrease this number it will change the amount of gunsight glass greyness.

problems loading cockpit - jenglish - 23.03.2009

Hate to bother with this - but I desperately want to see the new cockpit repaint but it never appears in the game. I put the rar file in C:/Progs/Il-21946/MODS/Freddie P51/3do/cockpit/P-51D-20(K14). I even tried removing the spaces in the path. I should also note that none of the cockpits I've tried seem to work. Help me please before I jump out the window! Thx. hock:

Have you installed the U.I.1.1 or any soundmod? You have to install that to be able to install whatever other mod like cockpits...

Hi jenglish,
I have my setup a bit different so I will tell you what I have done.

I have a separate FILES folder not in the MODS folder.

So here is the sequence: FILES/3DO/COCKPIT/P-51D-20(K14)
The P-51D-20(K14) are Freddies files

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Stargazer. I didn't realize I needed to extract the rar files to the mods folder! I downloaded the free rar program from CNET and that did the trick! A real duh moment but hopefully someone else out there who is having the same mental block will benefit from my folly.

All the problems and things I have tried to get this cockpit, make it worth while after getting a taste of it...partially. Stay with me: : :mrgreen:

When it is added to mods as Freddy's (following directions) it gives me the known 'open-air' view...kinda' chilly, then when I realized I had Bolox's 51D (K-14). I put a minus and tried Freddy again. Same results, Soooooooooo I put a - on Freddy, went to Bolox, put a - on his K-14,added Freddy's, played the game and came up with Freddy's cockpit...BUT...the K-14 was an additional 25-30% bigger, just the gunsight! :evil: :evil:

I have a side by side shot of it, but did not know how to add it here. hock: :oops:

Any ideas??

Check to see if you have a P51 mirror mod in the mods folder. Remove it or place a - in front of it.

Hi Stargazer,

I did pick up on that in the thread, and have it -'d; no joy. Bolox has been very helpful with this, and I did get things settled (including -'ing othe later gunsights in the 47 and later Spit), but still the sight is appreciably bigger in comparrison to the pic added by Freddy. Will keep reading and exploring.

He has also released a repaint for the non gyro P 51 version, I wonder that it is not around here. but sadly it has no new glowing reticle

has someone managed to get the new reticle worked in the non gyro version
