Murph Wrote:Can I use this map as a substitute for the original map by renaming the folder, as I did with the Kyushu map? Or will the changes to the houses cause problems with doing this?
No you can. As all my repaints, in theory it's done to definitively replace the stock ones. it's what i have on my pc  . only remember what i posted on the 1rst page of this topic, in case you get a message "string index out of range" that may happen as i erased some objects of the stock map:
go to missions folder, there we you have the mission or the campain your are trying to play. for EACH mission, locate the .mis file. For EACH mission playing this map, go to "HOUSE" chapter, and erase ALL what you have in this chapter and only this chapter.
check also if the name of the map is correct.....and that's all
save
exit
...and play .
So if you want to install this map as a replacement, just rename the map folder redko_palau into palau, that's all.

Hi guys, after talking to Redko I'm posting a shallow texture for his Palau repaint. I tried to keep it as white as Reddko was going for to match the real Palau area. I hope you like it.

Thanks Bombsaway.
Would be interresting to have that trick allowing 2 different coral textures for a same map one day. For exemple here your texture would be fine around reefs and tiny islands, and in the space between the coast and reef, a more sandy coral texture. This would describe perfectly Palau.
Anyway if you produce more coral texture you can fit with this map feel free to post here

I'm glad you like it Redko.
I can work on a sandy texture but I could use some help with a bump H texture for this texture and if I can make a sandy one. My problem is that I have to use one that wont look tiled so much. That happens when there is a large area of shallow water. Maybe a bump H would help.

It's been fun so far watching this topic develop
You gents sharing ideas with no apparent egos or agendas is a model for the community 8)
Yeah I know- so it's all cool so what's special about that? Just that sometimes there's lots to say about maybe something negative, but the positives might go unnoticed.
Just felt as if it might be interesting to share this observation- it's been nice watching this topic
Cheers

Triad773, Your right. I enjoyed the fact that Redko let me post this texture. He has become antist and I was glad to add a small touch to his work. I hope to continue. I'm glad you pointed out the good in this thread. The community could use more of that.
Can't enjoy this map :( - Goblin - 08.03.2010
Hi all, since I've D/L this map I have completely game freeze into FMB with black flashing terrain too just after I try to zoom -in in the FMB
(
I have an ATI x1950xtx card and never had any problem before (exept during Kiushu beta testing). I think is a problem related to some texture dimensions (?) ( redko where are you please? I've jet send PM 2 days ago about this problem m8...)
I doubt he (you..) have used to built this map not good textures for (old?) ATI owners may be (?) . Waiting news from him or everyone who can help me as I woud like to enjoy the map like others if possible.. Thanks for the attention.

One of the thinks I noticed with these retextures is bunkers seem to stand out like sore thumb; that dark gray next to all that green. Maybe it is time for some mod to make tropical themed bunkers and coral cave objects as targets?
