The big new maps can take a LONG time to load. If you're patient, the map should load sooner or later. Try again.

Map difficulties - Flagman - 20.01.2009
This map has several problems that need to be resolved.
A major one is that it won't play (at all or for long) on many computers in perfect mode. It kicks players back to desktop when the mission begins in online and offline missions . Or, the mission will play for a while and then the picture will distort and a kick to desktop or a computer freezeup occurs. I see this happening to players online (and not just to myself) and is not experienced in any other map that I have played.
The problem seems to be the map does not like many commonly used video cards. A fix is to play missions in excellent mode but that is hard to explain quickly to online players.
For mission-builders, a difficulty exists in that on many airfields, aircraft can only take off and land in one direction. This goofs up the timing of missions and requires the burdensome making of temporary runways next to already existing runway surfaces that are unuseable. This looks odd to players, to say the least.
The double runways on some airfields are a good idea as they allow for more aircraft to take-off from a field in a shorter period of time. But, many double runway fields only allow planes to take off from opposite directions - an odd thing since airplanes must take-off and land into the wind. Why would they ever be taking off on parallel runways in opposite directions? For mission-building purposes, take-offs and landings must be able to occur from all directions on all runways.
I really like the map as it has a lot of mission potential but these problems make playabilty and mission-building burdensome.

 I have to admit one thing, when I made this map... I was not thinking about specific problems when played online...
... because never I was an online player... and I don't even know what are "rules" to make a smoothly playable online map...
I think the biggest problem in this case is the size of the map which is not acceptable for any computer configuration
Map Difficulties - Flagman - 25.01.2009
The inabiltiy for many computers to play the map in Perfect mode online is the biggest problem. I have never seen this before on any map - mod or not.
If you want to see what online mission builders want for airfields, someone has spelled it out at:

Really interesting... I had no idea about that before
... but it's easier to follow these rules for a fictionnal map than for a realistic one...

Having built and experimented with many maps, I have to say that I have no idea how you came about to this conclusion, but I must rule in favor that this comment is complete BS.
If a map wont play with commonly used video cards, the users most likely have a DLL problem, or insufficient ram. The way maps are built has absolutely nothing to do with your videocard.
- Flagman - 25.01.2009
I have 4 Gb of RAM and so do the others that the map won't work for.
If all other of the 50 or so maps work and only this one won't for me and lots of others, there is something different about this map that is causing a problem.
Problems with Phillippines map - bohr-r - 28.01.2009
hello,
just like several other people who posted here, I have experienced problems with the Phillippines map. When playing a mission from a campaign using this map, the game eventually crashes to desktop. Missions created in the FMB with this map crash after a short time as well. I really like this map and it's a pitty it is not working the way I would like it to. javascript:emoticon('
')
Crying or Very sad
have there been any updates released that would fix these problems?

I'm also quite sad to see so many posts about crashes
... and the most obvious reason is that I don't have really a satisfying answer to give
But one thing is really clear : this map was made exactly the same way than others ! At first sight, nothing seems to distinguish this one from others... with exception maybe for the size... there are only generic textures and generic objects...
I think we can distinguish two situations : offline and online
1/ offline : maybe people experimenting crashes offline should try to use the map with an empty actors.static (easy to do, edit in notepad, select and delete all and save) so we could see if the problem is related with size or something else in actors.static... If this is the case, I could release a lighter actors.static which could solve the problem...
2/ online : seeing posts, it seems problems are related to airfields... it seems that for offline playing airfields have to be double way starting and landing... I had no idea of this when I made the map... in this case, I'm afraid I can't do something because it would take a lot of time to change all airfields... and I don't have much time
I have to say :
1/ if someone can find the correct reason, pls share...
2/ for offline adaptation, I have nothing against the fact that someone do it... but let me know

Thank you, delvpier, for your answer. That's what I like about this site, that it is actually possible to communicate directly with the authors of the game content. Thank you for creating such an impressive map. When I first downloaded it, I boasted to a Fillipino friend of mine with an interest in aviation that IL2 now has an authentic Phillippines map. Unfortunately, when I tried to show off the new map, it didn't work anymore.
I will try to change the actors.static file according to your suggestions. Where is it located? Somewhere in the MODS-folder? Did you mean to open the file, select all content, delete it, save the new version and then try the map?
Sorry for being so obtuse with this, but I really am no computer wizzard.
Thanks again for your help,
RB
