I don't know of US planes using tail markings, but many countries which used the Sabre had flag markings, generally on the lower part of the tail.
Canada, for instance:

I believe IL2 defines tail markings by "Overlay8"
Yes but I need to know which aircraft shows tail markings when using US markings ingame Smile if there's any, then I can add them.

Well there's the P-36, the P-38J, or the P-400 for example. Also some bombers such as the A-20G or the B-17D.

BAD_GRANT Wrote:Hey PeterD, I still need to know how to adjust the opacity on the goggles, please.

I would like to make them a little darker.
Wops sorry, I missed your post. Adjust the alpha layer (increase its brightness) in darkglass.tga, that should do the trick

Pete,
Tried your suggestion. Ran it up and down the scale and couldn't get a change. I may have missed something, but I'll keep trying. Thanks again for this plane. And I agree with the rest, try the Ta-183 FM. If it's no good you can always switch back. No harm, no foul.

Can't wait for that cockpit. It's gonna be first rate.

Ta- 183 has got to be a better match for this pretty bird... Confusedhock:

Awesome!!!
PeterD, are you going to make only XP-86, or may be planning other variants (F-86A, E, F, F-30 etc.)?

Thx anyway.

HEY PETE!

Alright, after returning to the basics of Photoshop, I figured it out. Thanks. Now all I gotta do is find out if they had yellow lensed goggles back then for evening and night ops.

Not at all. The Ta-183 has a closer top speed (both break apart before the F-86's level top speed), but the P-80 is closer in everything else. Turn, climb, and trust/weight are heavily in the P-80's favor.

The only other comparable planes in overall performance are the He-162C or D.

Yeah Peters Sabre Is Undeed Awsome!

I would like to share with you the Argentinean F-86 Sabre. Loht773 presented me his idea of making the skin, so here it is.

Here's the info I got for thrust/weight
F-86F: 0.38
Ta-183: 0.37
P-80C: 0.43
The rates of climb of both ingame Ta-183 and P-80 are much lower than the F-86's, but the Ta-183's top speed is the closest you can get to the Sabre's.

Fly, are we using the same template? Yours looks a bit different than the one I'm using.

That's weird I just checked the download and it is working fine, plus I don't get any virus alarm or anything. I also just scanned the computer and there's no trace of confiker or w/e.

I hope you are not infected :|
All is well Peter and thanks for looking into it so fast it may have just been a link inside a link that I hit that set my scanner off ....an I am glad to see the 86 in our game and looking forward to more to come
