very nice, a burning ship is a valuable addition for more realism in missions

I'm open for suggestions and there is enough time to include some of yours ideas.

understand this picture is a trial, just 2 thoughts here:
- any fire on a ship should be accompanied by (lot of) smoke;
- huge and high flames are better to be placed around cargo holds or tanks (for tanker), as superstructure (accomodation, etc.) itself is not so "flammable", - it will produce more smoke than flame;
good luck with version 2

About the superstructure, I wouldn't be too sure. Most cargo ships build prior to the 30s had a wooden superstructure and would burn rather nicely.
Anyway, I would prefer to have a wider variety of effects, but unbound to any objects. Just like the ones that are already in game. That way you could use it for any kind of larger fires.

Adding new effects in game is piece of cake.
I want to tie new effects to ships because if you have separate effects you can use it only on stationary ships. What you see on picture is moving ship in flames. With separate effect that would be impossible. I already have better looking flame but there are still some things to solve.
Currently I have flame as soon as ship spawns, I want to trigger it when ship is hit at certain spot.
Flames are not the only effect I'm working on, oil leaks are another thing I'm trying to introduce.
Some people expressed their wish for longer sinking times. I made that but I would like to tweak that to suit most players. What I want to know what should be average sinking time for ships.

That is excellent FC.....to have moving objects which have the smoke/fire move with them
although my own preference is for more smoke than flames
...that is why i have always been asking Oleg for a time-out or delayed start on the smoke/fire/lights objects
I have often thought that the ship sinking times could be increased by ten times the default amount and it wouldn't be too much

Interesting, how about a destroyer laying a smokescreen?

That would require a new smoke type that would become stationary and in combination with effects=2 would most likely kill any machine, but I would still love to try it

Difference between smoke and flame for me is only in one word of Java file, all I have to do is to call this or that. :lol:
Fisneaky Wrote:Interesting, how about a destroyer laying a smokescreen?
That's one of the thing I was thinking about, one problems though. How to trigger that effect?
Got one idea just as I was writing this, must try it later. :lol:
I would appreciate if someone can post pictures or video where smokescreen can be seen.

There are some problems with graphics at places where original stacks were. You can see it on screenshots, small black triangles. We tried to remove stacks by making them transparent and now we have this problem.
If somebody have idea how to solve this let me know.
BTW Have you tried mod with new sink time?
