Flushmeister perhaps? He is probably the most gifted artist I have seen.

The image I've photochopped is 456x444x32 pixel tga with alpha.
Is it okay? or should we get a master on the job? (I will be pushing on doing other panel work.)
cheers.

Bear in mind that the leather cover around the base of the stick would be much newer than the one in your photo. Yes, hopefully one of our texture artists will latch onto this and touch it up.

K, thanks Murph.
Will leave it as is until someone picks it up. For their reference a new unit should look something like this....
cheers.

Actually, in the photos you just posted, the cover does'nt look like leather so much as "oilskin"- heavy canvas impregnated with linseed oil to make it waterproof. This would have that brownish-gray tint and not be as shiny as leather.
- taurus - 18.05.2008
Good point Murph, oilskin would be the material of the day.
The one and only colour photo I've got shows the material as a very light neutral gray as you can see. Can you get oilskin in light gray? The submariners of the Kreigsmarine wore light grey rubberised wet weather gear, very similar. The black and white luminosity levels compared to the known chromium/dark green of the metalwork would corroborate that IMHO. That would be my guess but there is next to no reference available to confirm one way or the other unless someone could enlighten us with specific documents.
I wonder how many ground crew of the day would have been able to put us straight in a flash?
Cheers,
Taurus.

I don't have a lot to report on the cockpit this week. On the left I did a bit of repositioning of the main switchbox.
Pit Left
On the right side I cut out the original O2 regulator and installed one from the P51, It is not perfectly positioned yet. The right side of the pit is not very well populated, there should be all sorts of radio equipment in the general area of the blue X. Also I think that the recog light switch box (yellow outline) should be a little further right instead of over the main panel.
Right Pit
Taurus I will bundle up these new files with a reference list as soon as I can.

What I consider to be the official release of the gunsight mod has been finished for a while now. I want to post it in the 4.08 download section but haven't gotten a green light to do so. I am getting impatient though, so I will probably put it in the WIP download section again if I don't get any response. Some previews of finished product are below.
P47D22 Razorback with USAAF Mk8
Backup Ring and Bead Sight
For the iron sights to be functional- you need to be using the 6DOF mod. I can easily release a alternate version without iron sights if there are enough people with that preference.

I am still prep'ing for the texture render of the fuse/switchbox for the left hand side. A few more days, but it is close. (Too bad most of the detail will be lost, but it is better to throw pixels away than try to get them back.)
I have layed my hands on some more pit reference. (Thank you Hylands bookstore!) For me there needs to be clarification on pit designations. As I have pm'd, the IL2 designations are all D's yet the cockpits are based on B's, C's and D model pit layouts????
After doing the switchbox, I will post my reference per pit model and see what the general concensus is on layout. You are putting a great deal of effort poncho in getting this pit fitted out properly, and I am sure we all would not want to see it go pear shaped by bad reference.
Cheers,
Taurus.
P.S. I would upload to the WIP myself. the gunsight mod it too good to miss out on!!!!

Taurus,
That switchbox looks good -that is exactly what I was hoping for.
What is supposed to happen with the green hole? Is there a separately meshed gauge that belongs there?
As far as the model designations are concerned, from a standpoint of importance to combat operations, we should avoid the "B" . I think that the "C" was only marginally important. I see your point about the existing pits being modelled in part based on these earlier versions. That said, I want to be sure that the models that come out of this project will be useful to mission buiders.
There is a lot of room for discussion by better historians than me.
- taurus - 19.05.2008
The green hole is a guide for me to drop an amp gauge in to add it to the rendered texture. The switches and screws need to be "set" as well.
EDIT:
All bits are in place now. This is the almost as bad as the main panel in complexity. The D-27 box has much more stuff but at least it will just be mostly a matter of copying components rather than building them.
Another step closer...

How about this as a placeholder?
Or this one (I like it better because it doesn't have a shit-like color  )
- taurus - 21.05.2008
Superb work PeterD!!!!!!
Placeholder? The finished article more like it!.
If it were my personal preference though, it would be the first one. They both look brilliant but I dare say the darker the colour, the more lost it will get in the shadows.
I don't know what others would prefer?
Cheers,
Taurus.
