Yea, now if we can just get the AI to follow along...

- Triad773 - 27.03.2009

I can launch a Beaufighter 1944 with 50% fuel, but when I add a Mk 14 torpedo, she's too heavy :?

Still learning the limits of this one but loving it 8)

Yes the AI- that would help.

Generally I find that if I cannot take off with the cat, the AI cannot take off normally anyway Confusedhock:

Example: Corsair with the napalm (from before). I could not take off, but then neither could my squad. Faithfully, they followed me into the drink

Hope that helps somehow Big Grin

Cheers

Triad

Yeah, it would be nice if an entire flight could take off with napalm 8)

- duffys tavern - 27.03.2009

Launched a Mig 9 off of a CV. She made it. Looked swell with the canopy open & pilot wearing the oxygen mask. Now if we only had a hook.

One hint with the Corsair and Napalm...jettison the drop tank before launch. If you wait till the AI unfold their wings, you can direct them to drop their tanks also.

Works like a charm with 50% fuel. Thanks for the tip!

Sounds counter-intuitive, but I'll try it. What do I have to lose except hitting the refly button again? Smile

When you spawn on deck, just jettison your drop tank and launch. After you're airborne, keep an eye on the AI and as each one spreads their wings, instruct them to "drop tanks". This should get them down to a weight where they can get off OK. Make sure that the ship is going it's max allowable speed, and maybe even put some wind into the mission. I'd be glad to put one together for you if you'd like. Just PM me with the mission details.

Thanks Razor- 8) instead of my drop tank erupting into a fireball underneath me they just kinda disappeared when jettisoned on the deck Smile

I was able to take off in a Corsair with napalms and rockets AND 100% fuel 8)

Will try it with wingmen later

Thanks again

Any progress yet on getting the AI to use the catapult?

- renmik - 13.04.2009

Great Mod,

I like it very much, now we need more birds on deck,

Hi Duffy,

tried this yesterday, but Mig 9 was like a pinguin,
only swim.

Would you tell me your conditions, please?
What I have to set to cat this bird successfully?

Many THX in advance

renmik,

Hi, 30 knots of wind across the deck did the trick.

FJ-3 Fury - Guest - 13.04.2009

I have skinned a Sabre as a USN Fury and it looks really cool when catapulted off. Thanks for this great mod..

(landing is a bit trickier though....)

Regards

GJE52, getting back aboard truly is a piece of cake if you use another of Fireball's great contributions to this game, the Wind Config mod.
