Woo! 8) You can actually create that beast, that would be a wonderful added A/C.

Somehow, no offense to the modders of course, that doesn't do much justice to what i see flying over my townhouse at 300 feet on approach, on the nice flying months to the Hamilton runway at the CWHM.. (yes, i'm spoiled.. nothing like listening to the snarl of 4 Merlin's waking you up on a Saturday morning, passing overhead
)
If only Oleg had given us a proper Lancaster, even as AI...
Nice shot at it though, ranwers

The Lanc's merlin cowls with beard radiators are not available in the game - and there aren't any suitable alternatives IMO (Tempests beard rad looks too big). For British bombers it might be better to do Hercules powered versions - the Beaufighter has Hercules cowls and exhausts and also has the top mounted carb intakes. Same applies for Halifaxes, Wellingtons etc.

Ok, I will not end this mod.

I tend to think the Liberator has more potential as a Halifax. It hasn't got the mid upper turret but maybe the ball turret could be positioned there instead? The shoulder mounted wings would need to be moved to a mid-mounted position and the cowlings replaced with Hercules as above. That would be about it. :wink:

Ranwers don't get carried away by some non-fortunate comment. The plane really looks very nice and will give sense to all that reflectors

Please don't consider mine a 'negative comment'.. the plane bits that he is working with, is what he's got to work with - but the reality is, that it is less than a Lancaster. The plane bits to make a proper Lancaster are simply missing from the sim. As a mod, if this floats your boat, go ahead and enjoy it. I admire ranwers for his work in modding - but he's limited by what he can do with this one.. nothing more, nothing less. It's not intended as an insult - if it was taken that way, then i apologize.
Just from a personal point of view, i'll need to wait for the faint hope of BoB holding a Lancaster easter egg, before i can fly the Lanc with satisfaction and suspension of disbelief..

Ah! The deformed offspring of a reluctant Lancaster and a horny Halifax? Interesting... :wink:

Hey Guy's.......What about the engins from the Mosquito? More realistic looking prop covers, Unsure of the type of engine though???????? :?

Merlins on the Mossie as well, however you could use the Beaufighter engines, some Lancs had Bristol Hercules engines
- RAF_Magpie - 20.12.2007
Mossie engines would look ok...
You could almost get away with the Tempest engines if you wanted... Take some creative license
Oleg and the crew did that with their "Wonder Machines" - make your own version of the Lancaster - ie: Avro Lancaster MkXI-R (for Ranwers
)
Or you could just use the Bristols.... making it a Avro/Armstrong Whitworth Lancaster BII - R (for Ranwers)
Avro/Armstrong Whitworth Lancaster BII:
