Agree 100%.
I remember crash-landing next do a house, and my plane was as high as that house.... not very realistic, and not logical either.

If the buildings were made bigger, wouldn't the map need scaling up as well, to keep the city sizes in relation? Or would we be happy with more narrow streets?
- spud - 13.01.2008
The buildings are very oddly scaled, indeed.
SOme are too small, others are huge based upon the textures, anyway.
Hey!
Can you scale the 4 tree line object (165? (from memory, sorry if it's wrong))? Right now, it's less than 1/2 the height of the large forest textures. We desperately need a treeline that is equal (or close) to the forest side so that at low alt you can avoid hitting them:
From the new Slot map:
you can't see the layered forest from the side, but it's considerably higher than the palm trees in the foreground. The idea with taller trees (at least 1, ideally the tree line so more length is covered with 1 object) is for them to mark the edge of the forest accurately in height.

Great work.. Can we have a quick tutorial on how to alter pilot scale so that it looks more correct?..

Yes
In hier.him change line FE:
[Pilot1_D0]
Mesh Pilot1_D0
Parent CF_D0
Attaching 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0.3 -5.3 0.16657
to: Attaching 0.95 0 0 0 0.95 0 0 0 0.95 0.3 -5.3 0.16657
and we have pilot at size 95%
+ correct position

Thanks for the info..Having trouble locating the file though.. Can't find those lines anywhere within the files in 3do.. Am I looking in the right place?

FE
X:\IL-2 \.....\3do\plane\SpitfireMkIXc(GB) if you have hier.him
If not - then extract hier.him from SFS files

What about other objects?

You may have to extract the file from the.sfs archives, and then create your own folder in the MODS folder with this structure:
MODS/(name of your folder)/3do/plane/(the folder of the plane that you want to change,e.g. F4U-1A(USA))/hier.him
Hope that helps!

I see the new modded planes are easy to get into. I've checked their heir files and most seem to have the change, already.
It's most notable on the Spitfire 9c, that was remade with the rounded rudder. You can jump back and forth between the modded and unmodded version. The modded Spit DOES look right.
I can't figure out how to get into stock planes, however.
I can't even open up and smf file. Hope someone can figure out an easy way to do this. I would gladly, and patiently change every plane I fly!
