Awesome stuff thanks for these mods

I agree with canon having the option of early and late versions, at the expense of some lesser flown planes or an aces slot either way i'd support it.

- Guest - 16.01.2008

Lovely stuff, indeed!
Now, if we can just find a way of including new a/c versions in new slots without having to replace an existing plane, that would be the way to go!!!! Big Grin

Any idea why late Bf-109s went from a semi-retracting to a non-retracting tailwheel, before making a fully retractable version for the K-4 model?

FANATIC MODDER Wrote:HunInTheSun, why you don't talk with MrJolly to put these mods (or at least some of them) in place of the various aces G6s & G10 slots?

Why not,that would be a good idea;
But it would be necessary to rename the plane of these aces,as it seems Fabian's G10 wasn't like the G10 i propose with my mods (Erla or Late war)

It would add a veritable mess in the plane list,i fear...

Metatron Wrote:Any idea why late Bf-109s went from a semi-retracting to a non-retracting tailwheel, before making a fully retractable version for the K-4 model?

Here is what i understood about this fact, from different readings:
Arrow From G4 onwards,it was necessary to mount new tires on Me109s for them being able to take-off and land on rough terrains. The tailwheel well wasn't enlarged, maybe for production reasons.

Arrow We mustn't forget that the German army planned the end of the war for 1943.Wink
The G6 model was also intended to be the absolute last model of 109,because Messerschmitt engineers were certainly fully busy with technologically advanced planes like Me262 or Me163 Komet Wink

Arrow Thus, the Me109s from G6 till G10 (including the G14) were more or less the same plane with many improvements added/created by factories, improvements that were sometimes not compatible each other.
Adding to that the prolonging war and the final defeat that was appearing more and more clearly days after days...

Arrow Nevertheless, the Kurfurst model was a complete new plane, developped from 1943.
This plane *was* to include every improvement that had given to the 109 most of its best qualities:

-DB605-D engine (like the AS engine, but much more sophisticated and powerful for climbing, accelerating and for top speed)
-Improved cockpit ergonomy
-Erla canopy
-Versatile and strong armament (MK108 30mm as standard nose cannon plus 2xMG131 13mm)
-Fully retractable TW and wheel well covers, giving to the Kurfurst a Friedrich smooth form.
-etc...

All of that with a slight spinner and tail section redesign. Smile

To summary,a formidable fighter that was described like able to outfly anything and maneuverable like any other Me109-G,dixit the German Ace Franz Stigler,28 victories just here. Idea
Knowing all of that,we can frankly wonder about the K4 performances, maneuvrability and especially about its weight in the IL2 sim...But this is another matter.Wink

the filefront download seems to extract corrupted, some of the canopy TGAs . Tried twice from there.

the rapidshare site seems to be down.

- Guest - 19.01.2008

Both downloads seem to be corrupted, tried the rapidshare as well. Can someone please repost this.

- Rjel - 20.01.2008

I've always liked the looks of the shorter tail-wheel G-10. Great work!

Hi all

Struwwelpeter,
I've just redownloaded the file, both from FF and RShare, and i did heavy testing.
Absolutely all is ok. Idea

Please, think about reading the ReadMe file carefully to avoid problem Wink

HunInTheSun Wrote:ps2:
Be careful about the Erla canopy when inside cockpit with rear view:
Arrow Since the beginning of the IL2 serie, the game has a bug i COULDN'T correct about the antenna mast (see here to understand).
It seems that 1C had directly made the Erla canopy with the antenna mast included, that makes the rear view, inside the K4,quite wrong.
And unfortunately,it is now the same thing with my "Late war Me109-G10 & G14". :?

Ingame antenna mast uncorrectness....

:!: CORRECTED!!!! :!:

For Me109-K4 naturally,but also for the mod with Me109-G10-Erla and Me109-G10/G14 Late-War.

Stay tuned,more infos soon... 8)

[EDIT]

It's done. Smile
All the stuff is here.

This is a nice mod. I like the Erla canopy on the G-6 with the classic tail. That's been on my wish list for ages.

Is there any way of getting the canopy from the F-2 onto the F-4?

cheers,
Ratsack

Possible to get standalones of these. I really don't like altering originals too much. They look great though.javascript:emoticon
