there are no fm for the baloon. If your Refering to the one thats on a wire then yeh... no fm.

I have never encounterd one. I have Experimintied with this before.. i have been busy with every thing.

Is it illegal to ask how to mod an FM, or can we build one from scratch and import it into the game?

- Alien_12 - 21.03.2008

Okay, when it will be done, send it to:
alanwawrzyniak@poczta.onet.pl
or better public it!!!

I will pacient

Apart from Akorn and Macon, the USN used smaller, non rigid 'blimps'.

I'd post a photo, but my connection is too slow at the moment.

Something like these?

Hellzone Wrote:The problem is floating. I dident see any FM math in the game for makeing a aircraft float and or move slowly.

The Observation and barrage ballons in game do float free if their mooring is destroyed.

- Hellzone - 21.03.2008

Yes but they float of into space, and asking me about FM modding is a big no no.

I don't want to be the one that breaks the rules here so i will only ask a hypothetical question. If this balloon FM that makes them to float into space (because they are lighter than air) could be modified by making the zepp neutrally buoyant (so that his specific weight equals that of air), and then add a very weak engine (or a couple of them) to make it possible to move it around but not at too great a speed, could that work (hypothetically of course)?

- Ace911 - 21.03.2008

If your theory proves to be correct or possible: yes

But about the weak engines, that isn't really neccesary, because of the enormous air resistance of the zeppelin. 8)

Example: the Hindenburg had 4 (yes, FOUR) 1200 HP daimler-benz engines installed, and yet, it couldn't go faster than about 120 Km/h (as fast as you are allowed to drive on the highway). :?

You just need to model the FM to those standarts if anyone is even to build a Hindenburg or something like it, because I suck a 3D moddeling. Cry

I think the slow and lumbering TB3 would be a good base for something like this.

Yes i am aware of this - but that's because the zeppelins also had a huge mass - even if it was made up mostly of hydrogen it was still enormous and carried a lot of inertia. I reckon that a balloon FM would not model such massive weight (or actually mass) and using a plane FM like the TB3 would again involve all sorts of issues with different ways a heavier than air craft behaves compared to a dirigible. Zepps behaved more like a boat - or rather a submarine, submerged in air - than like a conventional plane. So starting with a balloon and making it neutral buoyant then adding a small engine to it would be the logical first step IMO - and if that works increase size and weight as much as we need for a zepp (or as far the game will let us)...

Hypothetically, of course.

Of coooooourse...

Whats next ? Sky Captains P40 which can be used as a Submarine ?

Wouldnt that be cool, lol.

No, the zeppelins would be cool, but realistic

- Carnagexxx - 22.03.2008

Maybe, dont know anything about WW2 Zepelin Use.

You also can make the Japanese Balloon Bombs Wink Lol

But I think you should concentrate your creative power to more important Projects.

A Bf-109 E3 for sure Wink To kick the new Mk1 asses Wink

And then starts the old discussion, Nose Cannon or not LOL
