here the water looks to be below zero height...??
- fly_zo - 29.03.2008
... the way i see it , it would be best to redo map_h.tga in microdem ( applying CW's color table for elevations))
cheers,

you're probably right......but the trees disappear if I use a Burma map default load.ini..... they must be caused by my load.ini
thanks for your advice and interest

I did the map H again....no change..... this is getting very frustrating
all inland water is either half-way up a mountain-side or below the level of the compass rose when looking in 3D mode....
and i cannot get the textures I want where I want......
could it be because my map is half-size...has anyone else done one not 1:1..?
maybe the SRTM data is incorrect...still have sea mounts too
- fabianfred - 29.03.2008
when you use the FMB+ and the data in red at the bottom of the screen....what is the meaning of Type=8 or type=20 ?...the value changes as you move over the landscape

Well I spent all morning making new map T and H....after i managed to get the map C dissected with the new settings..........but then it wouldn't load into the FMB....out of range
so i went back to my 3:4 scale map...and found out that the map C/h/T were not aligned properly and have been playing around in PS...re-sizing and croping
...oh well....back to work :?

magpie was doing that as well with his NZ map
mountian lakes need to be on the map_h the same colour otherwise youll have see throuigh mountians

At the moment my landscape is entirely devoid of trees....any idea how I can get the random trees to show up everywhere...I have about one single tree in a square kilometre right now
and how can i cover the landscape...especially the hills with the woods...is there a way to paint them over the whole area with a broad brush?
and other textures too...can we just add them with a broad brush...not dependant upon the elevation?
how do we work in map_T....when it is so dark that nothing can be seen?

What I do with map_t is put a white layer beneath it in photoshop, and then reduce the opacity of the map_t layer so I can see where things are

Thanks canon.....good idea....
One of the nicest things about flying over this map is that in the North of Thailand (and Lao...and Burma) it is very hilly......so with the new long range visibility from 4.09 switched on... you can see layers and layers of hills going into the distance......(just like I can when I step outside my house
..)
