I have a XFX NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT 512MB with Windows XP Pro 32 Bit.

I am running Riva Tuner 2.24 and I here my GPU fan change speeds with the temperature ranges that I have set.

50% @ 1- 30 C
60% @ 31-35 C
80% @ 36-40 C
100% @ 41-100 C

There is a known problem caused by the perfect storm of heat, Vista, and nVidia drivers. I have heard that it will be fixed with Vista SP3 (I assume it is already handled with Win 7). If that is your configuration, I have not seen the issue since I started using the 186.xx driver (or above) and set my fan to 100% when running the game. You can use rivatuner or nVidia's NTune to provide fan adjustment.

Gents,

I've done a LOT of research on this problem and it all goes back to the way Vista works with OpenGL. I recommend going back to the Vista 186 Nvidia drivers. I have very few if any problems with those drivers and Vista x64.
