fly_zo you have been busy! quite a display, are any of the models still around or have they all bitten the dust? and as for Jaypack's F4U what can i say? very impressive, i will try and dig out some of my plastic kits and get a few shots of them.

also if all goes accordng to plan i should have done some more work on the hurricane so i can give a full update on friday, i wont be posted here but i will post links to it

- GentleKiller - 16.04.2008

i really like the plastic kit models, but i just dont have the time Sad

- BIGGrobb - 16.04.2008

It's a shame we can't put any other models up. I've a couple of 1:16 scale radio controlled german tiger tanks!

- F22-Raptor-2006 - 16.04.2008

anyone here made a model in a 3D program or something? I know the focus has been mainly on RC planes and plastic kits so far but any 3D designers out there? lol

- carosel43 - 16.04.2008

3D designs have no place here! Tongue these are real models made with your hands not tricks of light and programming! also, rob feel free to post your tanks!

- F22-Raptor-2006 - 16.04.2008

lol didn't the people that make the aircraft kits for you use any sort of programming or something to do with a computer before making it??? Anyway i get ur point.

I think they have people sitting and carving that out of a solid block of plastic...

Offcourse a person has made the molds in a computer, that's true, but they didn't just print it out in it's final shape now did they? Tongue

3D models are great, I mean we all fly 3D models in IL-2 8)

I'll post my Hurricane mkIIc 1:72 scale as soon as I finish it, I'll buy colours from some if they have it Tongue (duck egg blue(ish), white, black, and blue needed)

I expect it to be done soon though, in Nipper's crew green and brown camo and NX markings, all expected to be painted on...

Thanks Smile
And, for the paintwork - No, I didn't use an airbrush (I'm a poor student  ) - I brushed the red-brown and green over the undercoated yellow colour, and then drybrushed the yellow over the top, as the colours were much too sharp, and I was trying to get an airbrushed sort of effect.

EDIT: Btw, I forgot to comment on everybody elses work.
Wow, that Hurricane is bloody superb! Thats amazing! Excellent job so far, carosel!
The Mirage is nice Smile
The Lancaster/Spitfire/Hurricane are a very nice trio!
The F4U is great!
Stuka looks amazing!
La is coming on nicely!

- carosel43 - 17.04.2008

many thanks for the kind words pointed at my hurricane, its been a labour of love i can tell you and you dont want to know the cost, but its commin along, i plan to cover the wings tomorrow if i can and begin painting next week, should be airworthy within a month i guess, if so it will have taken about 9 months to build which is pretty quick to be honest!

also, if anyone has questions on how someone has done something on a model please ask, thats the whole point of this thread, also if people want advise on learning to fly model aircraft etc please ask, i can blabber on about it for hours!

Good stuff so far, with over 8,000 members let's hope this gets lots of people showing.

I have been doing 1/48th WWII planes for the last twenty years, not competition quality but I have some fun doing them.

Most of my pictures are from several years back but I still have all the models and am still cranking them out.

Here's a few more:
