1 locate your main game directory ( IL-2 Sturmovik 1946)

2 copy whole folder (IL-2 Sturmovik 1946) to desired location and rename it at will ( IL2Mods ... or whatever )

3 open newly created folder ( step2...IL2Mods...) ... locate il2fb.exe and make shortcut to it on desktop (rename at will)

that's it ...

Thanks fly_zo, managed to do it, was confused by DVD attempts to uninstall if you tried to load from disk

any time

just remember to point mod installers to right direction ( now that you have two installations...) ... also if need to run IL2 setup ... run it from newly created game folder ( not from start-programs-...)
