vtrelut Wrote:Yes there are several static campaigns where you fly for the RAF or Royal Navy against Vichy forces (made by Billy Pryce and J.j. if my memory is correct).

My campaigns are the only ones where you can fly for Vichy France against the RAF, the Royal Navy and the US Navy... of course not all at the same time (it depends on which career and squadron you choose); anyway it was too much for the French, and later they became allies again.

i hope you don't imagine all french were under Vichy's orders... Wink
some free french (FAFL) who were in the RAF had to fight VS Vichy's frenchs...
(NOTA: you are completly right for example during the madagascar battle the french had only 7 MS406 and some Potez for air recon... when u see the size of this island it's nearly nothing)
hopefully for the allies they were not enought, with poor machines Smile

Of course I know about the Free French: they are far more famous than the Vichy airmen, although in smaller numbers.
BTW according to what I read, no Free French airman ever fought with a Vichy airman (they refused to go to Syria for instance). It was different on the ground in Syria, where Free French soldiers fought against Vichy army soldiers.

Fortunately Operation Torch made the whole thing part of history and all Vichy airmen stationed in North Africa rejoined the allied side.

Apart from that, I am finalizing a fully modded version of my campaigns, using new slot planes and also modded maps.

There was a fight between the Free and the Vichy Frenchmen in Africa in 1940, see this:

OK M8, only in Gabon and only in early November 1940, with no death on either side? That is not so significant, but it is interesting, especially to note that before bombing an airfield, the FAFL pilot circled around the target to allow the Vichy soldiers to run to shelters. Thanks for the link and the interesting information, I did not know about these events in Gabon.

I also read that in 1941 Free French pilots from EFC No 1 - led by James DENIS - refused to go to Syria because they knew well all the Vichy pilots there, who were their comrades.

And I even read that although defections from the Vichy air force to the FAFL are far more famous, the reverse also occurred: one FAFL Blenheim crew defected from the FAFL to the Vichy air force because they would not bomb their comrades... I believe it was also in Syria/Lebanon if my memory is correct.
