Hey- I was thinking that a mod like this could be very cool for bomber enthusiasts! I doubt it is modelled in the game, but if an engine goes out with this you could now effectively feather the propeller without having to select the engine, and feathering the prop assuming you have prop pitch designated.
In refining this concept there would need to be 3 Aircrafthotkeys added for 'Power,' as well as 3 more for 'Prop Pitch.'
There are commands for Select Engine... whatever. To me it stands to reason that if an Engine can have a designation in the code, then that snippit can be designated through other controls - like sliders.
I had contacted a modder here (thanks FC
), and he was kind enough to let me know how involved it may be.
I've gone back and forth whether I could even attempt this, but I think it would be worth trying. I always felt like it was one of the things missing. It very well may be true that by the time I get this thing to a beta version, Windows Vista will be considered then like Windows 98 is considered now
If anyone else might be interested in assisting, I'd gladly share any credit with them.

Maybe even add axis control for mixture.

If anyone is interested in continuing development of the IL-2 throttle project (as in modding it to support other throttle quads,) I have in writing from the original developer that it is okay.
Get the Throttle program here
http://www.ge-tec.co.uk/downlo...seCheck/Throttle.zip
If you look here
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/ ... 1841066427 on page 10, the gent simply cannot support this software at this time so he's made it free for download from the link first listed.
While I have no expertise, but respect for Java coders, this may be an opportunity to try and make a utility to suit all throttles for someone.

Throttle Quad for Saitek PZ45 - DHC120 - 13.07.2009
I think those of us wanting to use our Saitek Throttle Quadrants are SOL.. I have two PZ45's I use in FS9, CFS2 & CFS3 on twin and four engine tail-draggers.. I love my differential steering by throttle (love my differential braking, as well)..
I tried to contact Gary, the fellow who created a Payware Mod (and changed to an unsupported, no-guarantee freeware) to use the CH Products Throttle Quad in IL-2, but his e-mail bounced as "Does Not Exist" I fear the worst as Gary was, seemingly, not in good health in late 2008.
Does anyone know if anybody is working on a Mod for the Saitek (non Aviator) PZ45 TQ for use in IL-2??
Also, I'd rather have differential braking than individually adjustable mixture levers.

Unfortunately I think you will find the flight models don't seem to support multi engine physics well. Granted, I'm not the best P-38 pilot, but I have experimented with differential throttle and been unable to use it successfully in combat maneuvers. Chandelle turns cannot be tightened. Chopping the inner engine while rudder turning near stall at the top of a zoom will not help to turn the plane. Taxiing is easier, but for combat maneuvers, no advantage can be gained as far as I can tell.
Bummer.
