Hans von Ohain Wrote:so, just a quick question, where do i extract to?
Before you do anything, open your "Il2 Sturmovik" folder. Then open your "MODS" folder. Then open your "1 Basic" folder. You will see a "Samples" folder. Make a copy of this folder and keep in a safe place just in case you don't like any new sound you try, you can always replace them with your "backup" sounds.
Once you have my file, extract to Il2 Sturmovik/MODS/1 Basic/Samples. It will ask if you want to overwrite the files. Since you have already made a backup (at my behest) click yes to all.
You're finished. Fire up Il2 and fly.

That may depend on which version of the sound mod you have.
Search your Il2 folder for "Samples" and put these sounds in the "Samples" folder.

I am sorry that you are having trouble with them.
To coincide and go well with the sounds that came with the mod, I adjusted the gun sounds to a believable sound level.
When I have enough time, I will lessen the sound levels for you, if you wish, but I am wondering what sounds you had already that made my new gun sounds appear so loud.
I just think the 50s are very high pitch. and was wondering how to lessen the high pitch of it.

Please remember that this sound was recorded, not in a sound studio, but this is still pretty good. I can use my sound editing software (I use GoldWave) to run the sound through and using the built in equalizer, decrease the high pitch sound, or add more bass.
You have tried the sounds in game and think the 50 cal is high pitch?
If I get more of the same opinion from others, I will remake the 50 cal sound and have that for download.

Some sounds really nice
But I still have found no way to change it that Jossys Weapons Mod overwrite my sounds with the custam 0.93 sounds.
I want to hear a better MG 131 and UBT

Go to the presets file:
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\files\presets\sounds
Open the presets file with notepad
for each weapon the scroll down to here:
[spl]
130
Change the number in there, by lowering it to turn the volume down. Be careful and sure small increments, too large of change will make it very quite

I am experiencing problem with MGs and cannons on Spitfires. Every time I start shooting and then end it the sound of shooting still goes on for like a second or two. Any idea on how to fix that?
- Gambinobross - 02.11.2008
Thanks choctaw111 i also like your sound very much.
And i have found the same problems that Ghost had.
Look i changed the .prs just yesterday into this:
weapon.MGunBrowning50s.prs
[common]
mode relobj pos
type mixer
infinite 1
EAXMix 0
occlusion -400
occllf 0.25
eaxroom 10
obstruction -400
obstrlf 0.25
mutable 1
[spl]
100
[samples]
MG_Browning50x.wav
MG_Browning50.wav
[sample.MG_Browning50x.wav] ----> should be external sound
env 0 2
infinite 1
period
0.034 ----> i have changed this and ...
[sample.MG_Browning50.wav] ----> should be cockpit int
env 2 8
infinite 1
period
0.034 ----> ... this one from the original 0.074 and the sounds played a little better.
i had also to change
env 0 to
env 0 2 to the external parameter because i cannot ear it at all ...
P.S.
I had to do apply those changes to bth the .50 cal and .303 cal guns prest files because their behaviour was the same as u said ghost.
Just tested theese on p-39 guns ... i dont know any issue on the spitfires cannons, sorry.

Thank you very much Gambinobross, I did the same for my 0.30cal and it's working fine now. I had the same problem with Hispano Mki, but I just downloaded some other sound for it and as for 0.50cal is concerned, I didn't have any problem with it..
Thank you once again!
