Yep, Jafa's sounds are awesome. 8)
Concerning the stock sounds: yes they are crap but the sound engine itself which Oleg has given us is pretty good IMO. This became apparent to me when I had a go at modding some sounds for myself. It's not just the sounds that are important either, the preset files have to be set up correctly too.

You sound modders have made it pretty clear that the sound engine is capable of some pretty amazing stuff... my problem with Oleg's approach to sound was his assertion that it wasn't his sounds that were the problem but our set up. Even a neophyte could tell you that half the planes sounded like lawnmowers but, apparently, Oleg saw no problem with it.
Sad really because this video makes it very clear that audio (make that authentic audio) is a HUGE part of the IL2 experience.

I have a favor to ask of you I/JG27_Waggel, Could you tone down the engine files some so I can hear the guns a little more and then post a second version of this sound mod. I like it alot but I dont have the expertise in this area to do a good job of it. I would be very grateful to you sir...Thank you for your time.

So if you dowloaded the sound mod you will see a read me file. In this read me file you can see how easy it is to work with the sounds and you will hear your guns again. :wink:

Did anybody install it on AAA_Community_Installer_ver_1_0_part01 ?
It doesn't work for me. My game is stop load at 5%.

Nice video very atmospheric and the sounds were good too.
To those "knocking" the original sound engine.
Oleg stated on more than one occasion that it was to secure the game for anti cheat as the sound engine was hacked more than once in the early days.
Servers using full switch competitions had pilots with modified sound able to hear enemy engines from a long way out and used it like a radar effect.
To say the old sound engine was terrible is wrong as I started with a soundblaster 4.1 and eventually ended up with a Xfi music and the original sound engine is superb using a high end sound card set up correctly.
Yes the sound mod adds that bit extra but its not secure for those wishing to fight in a clean game in full switch.
So dont bash Oleg and the old sound engine, it served many of us well for years and still does.

I don't spend alot of my flying time watching and listening to other planes fly. I do hear the sounds of from outside of squad mates or enemies making a pass on me.
So, I thought I'd ask before I apply the mod. If the inside sounds are about the same I'll just stick with the ones I've got.
