Halifax's - Thunda - 26.10.2008

Got to agree with anti-addick- Halifax is the great un sung hero of Bomber Command- 4 Group in Yorkshire & Linconshire used them almost exclusively right through the war. Very sturdy- (German night-fighter pilots say they didnt catch fire when hit as easily as Lancs), and the later models were fast and nice to fly. Had lots of different roles too- Coastal Command used them for anti-submarine and long range weather, they towed gliders and were transports, dropped paras and were used on special ops missions.

Would love to see a late model Merlin B Mk II Srs 1a one day, but any mark would be a great addition to the sim.

There's always the Uberquick tool. See it here http://www.uberdemon.com/index2.html

The main drawback is it only goes up to 4.08 non-modded, BUT does work with all the stock maps. I have 4,09bm modded and I can still use this tool.

I found with that tool in no time I was able to make a mission that brought my machine to a crawl. The Clone Tool works well for making many flights

Hope that helps

Not that it really add's to the request or anything, but just an anecdote.

A Halifax crashed in the Maas (muse) river in my village,.. Destroying some houses along the bank.
The Newzealand crew was killed. Later, the son of one of the crewmembers retrned to Kessel, and together with my history teacher of that time (I was at primary school then), he went to the crash site. Unfortunately, nothing remembers now of the crash. I don't remember when it happened. I think in '43 or '44.

I'd love to see just any bomber command plane, so, go ahead mod team Big Grin

Cheers,
Joppe

No doubt, you've noticed already, but if you haven't: Ranwers (i think it was) has announced the Halifax .III in the WIP beta mods discussion forum! Hooray!

I'd like to add my own humble support for this request for a flyable Halifax (or a flyable Stirling or Lancaster).

Also, while I'm here, does anyone know where I can find a RAF skin for the flyable B24? Someone on the forums made one, but didn't include a download link.

Thanks alot,

Ill make the skins - ={TTU}=Kiwibird - 31.05.2009

If someone makes the Aircraft ill make some sknis. I have been interested in bomber command for years, since a relative who flew on lancasters came over to New Zealand. And Jopped if you are interested i could find out about the crew of that halifax. I have a book about the New Zealanders I bomber command and im sure I HAve seen that crash mentioned in there somewhere. So if anyone is still reading this thread i will Make Skins
