100% agree with Misticpuma on this. I think at this moment we can get rid of that invisible 2D dot too. I use 1680x1050 resolution with 4x AA and 8X AF and I can see squat at distance... I have miopia in real life but I fell the game is kinda ironic about it...
Yes, a mod in wich the LOD switching at distance would be turned off, could be a big improvement. at least for people with powerful rigs.
Somehow I feel this will take the road of "Wide screen mod" where people that could do something refused to do it due to personal thinking "miopia"... or more eufemistic than that... "tunnel vision"

..thx, guys! That#s what should eliminate missing FW-90D parts and half Spitfires at medium range. Our rigs shoul handle this with ease. 8)

Hm, but what would that do to smoothness of the game? To always have LOD_1 showing... it would kill FPS, or am I wrong?
Anyway, if this can be done i'll buy a new graphics card, screw it

IMO, this mod should be given No.1 priority when it comes to IL2 modification.

Yes it's possible but to adjust the LODs of each and every aircraft would be a bit of a tedious task though.

I would LOVE this to be a mode (changing LODs to the close version). It would be so good because I can't shoot aim very good at the planes when they turn into dot's especially with my 1920x1200 resolution which I am unwilling to give up.

It seems to me that a ways back there was something that could be done about the dot size at different distances. It would be nice to ahve the LOD's fixed right.
