No, this is the J7W1 Shinden, you're thinking of the J7W2 Shinden Kai

Has anyone got any conception images of the Shinden Kai? Would be interesting to see what the bugger was supposed to look like.
At anyrate, again, I'm loving the look of this...

Pretty much the same. The jet intakes were supposed to be on the sides above the wings and the tailpipe... well, at the tail. where the prop is.
Somewhat similat to that Swedish little twin boom bird, was it Saab 21? That also had both a piston- and a Jet-engined variant.
EDIT: here's a model -

Did a bit of reading on the G8N, and apparently we had acquired one of about four IIRC, took it back to the Good 'Ol US and A, tested it, and scrapped it.
Way to go!
Words cannot truly describe my discontempt about the years immediately following the war, when scrapyards were literally obliterating aviation history by the ton. You would think the G8N might end up in the Smithsonian...
How is it that many extraordinary and just plain weird stuff is saved from the scrapyard, and other one-of-a-kind pieces are simply discarded?
It's a shame.
Es ist sehr, sehr schade.
Anywho, I'm done with my rant, now! Thanks again, Kodama, for the work you're doing!
No pressure... Take it easy!
