But a MiG-15 or F86. Thats not too modern I think.

I think is more like Post-War Scenarios Like:
1946-54 Fiest Indochina War
1948 Arab-Israeli War
1954-62 Algeria War
1956 Suez Cannal Crisis
1961 Bay of Pigs Invasion
1969 Football War
Many of this conflicts have one or another "new" jet plane but most are old fashion world war 2 planes.
So a bump for the real forgotten battles of post war. Anyway, its all in the hands of the modders here, its their job, their time and their preference.

even though this is 'opinion' the il-2 1946 and addition with the 1946 planes the time and effort was a huge freaking waste, as they could have fixed al the bad fm/dm planes and do other things. Instead 2 years was wasted on those. If you want more modern try Thirdwire.com flight sim series.

In my modest opinion 1946 was a waste just because it focused in what-if experimental planes and uber UFOs and not in real postwar scenarios. Anyway, il2 is a ww2 sim.

Korea jets are IMO fine, but anything later is just too much. Is it even possible modeling supersonic flight with IL-2 game engine?

Right...
Speed of sound: Decreases with decreasing temperature only, not altitude. Temperature decreases with altitude in normal conditions. So therefore it's safe to assume that SOS (Speed Of Sound) decreases with altitude.
Now, I understand why you'd like Korean era jets in a game that has this kind of realism, but I don't see why anyone would want them. Jets are among the most hated planes in the IL-2 community and personally I'd never be more happy than to not see anything post WW2 in IL-2.
It is not possible to go supersonic in IL-2, or at least to have the actual effect, as when planes go transsonic in IL-2 they'll start to rip to pieces. I don't know anything about the engine or the limitations of it, but I know that supersonic flight was never a planned part of IL-2.
Have a go at it if you'd like, but I'm sure that you'll find supersonic flight impossible or extremely hard to do in IL-2.
