deRuyter Wrote:Hi |ZUTI|,

nice map (any map, which is not standard Il2 flat map is nice  )
Maybe 2 short comments:
- sometimes on the picture, there are objects partly laying on the streets. I think that it would be better to either move them or delete them.
- at least at that picture of Rijeka, the industrial part is quite poor and with majority (if not all) buildings from old Il2. With Slovakia map, there is quite a lot of new industrial buildings which can be used and IMHO looks far better than the old ones.
And it would be also nice, if there were more buildings at industry centers - I think that all mission builders who makes missions including level bombing will thank you.
Dogfighter doesn't care, but bomber pilot loves to have something to drop his bombs on and see the kaboom - and not only peace of grass thrown into air

And finally - with 4.09beta more people know that there is Slovakia somewhere. Now, with your map they even know, that there is difference between Slovakia and Slovenia

First of all, thank you again for nice words, all of you.

deRuyter: if you try the map you'll see that the industry is acually more dense populated. It's not really dense because of two things:
- i was using Burma factory texture, which is really nice for summer map and blends perfectly with the surroundings (IMHO) but there is no such texture for winter map and because of this i used airfield template for that. So the winter industry can look a but stupider, i agree.
- mission builders sometimes like to place special objects somewhere amongst these buildings that can be tracked via any kind of daemon tool (IL2SC, excellent FBDj...) but as such, buildings in actors static are not amongst them. So i didn't over populate the industry.

The old buildings were used because i was too lazy to combine new ones from Slovakia together. Separated i don't think they look so nice but from lowfighters template it is really nice. Problem here is that it would require quite some additional editing in order to sort out the little things after populating everything and even before i was really not satisfied and was always making corrections (drove Fly_Zo almost out of his mind with my final statuses Big Grin). And the other reason for old buildings is MAX number of different objects and objects per-se. New ones can always be added by mission builders anyways Smile

Bottom line, i became lazy :S Smile I take comfort that if i included more different objects FPS would suffer on weaker machines Smile Yes, i have to support my laziness somehow Tongue

I was sort of wondering what the difference is between the 'on' and the 'off' maps? I see verylittle upon opening them, but then my eye is not all that discriminating.

I was hoping to find some explanation in the readme file, but none was present in the folders that were unzipped by the install program.

Hey there. Just look at the cities. The difference is only in the density of the buildings. That's all. Off (for offline) has towns denser "population" than on (as in for online).

The ReadMe is extracted under IL2 root/Mods/mapmods/maps folder, not in the Zuti_Slovenia folder itself. AAA standard i guess.

That's it. Thanks for trying it.

That's it. Thanks for trying it._
_______________

Oh, it's my thanks to you for making such a stunning map. And thanks for the explanation.

I really thought the 'off' meant that something, an option or such, was turned off.

Terrific!! Great job. Thanks

something from your readme worries me.

Quote:Tested and created for 2 bombers per airfield.
i'm interpreting this as the map being usless in DF mode. If you send me a static.INI with just airfields and airfield waypoints i can help you make it useable for dedicated servers.

- Thrud - 18.12.2008

from the small tests i ran. it appears that the airfields haven't been built incorrectly (game mechanic wise). the maps looks great but it has to work too. again, if you send me a Static.ini with just the fields we can get this fixed.

when maps are built it is recomended that all the airfields are built seperately form everything else. this makes testing and repair easy if there is a problem. Only after all the airfields have been tested, are they merged with the rest of the statics on the map.

if the fields were seperately done in this case, it should take long to fix, assuming you kept all the soucre files.

SEE IT, READ IT, DOWNLOAD IT, LOVE IT!!!

- |ZUTI| - 18.12.2008

Thrud: what do you mean that map is useless for DF. This " Tested and created for 2 bombers per airfield." should be interpreted as:

there are few airports on the map (marked in readme) that have hangars dedicated to bombers (big hangars). The thing is that i made all starts/spawn points inside hangars and Slovakia hangars are too short to handle big bombers. And airfields are rather small too, so i put two hangars on the opposite side on bigger airports that are big enough for handling bombers. I agree though that this is not much but i had little info on which airfields were capable of handling bombers in this area so i am not entirely sure that there were any Smile

Sample pictures, just to make sure we understand each other:
Polje airport (near Ljubljana) from above. Note different hangars in the northern part and south-east part of it. Also runways for them:

This hangars can handle fighters but are too short for bombers:

So, i placed these hangars for bombers:

If this is not what you had in mind i can send you actors.static just for the airfields, they are separate, yes Smile But you're probably thinking of runway points (Start, taxi... those can be easily extracted from actors.static that came with the map as they are stored in different files, not in outbuildings.txt.

Thanks for your comments and thanks to the rest of you for your kind words and for trying it out Wink

I'm having this map on my DS and it's fine. Currently there are only a couple of missions but it's just because i'm filling the database in order to update my statistics website (i'm now using FBDj). So, at this stage everybody can just fool around there. If you want to try it without any worries of being banned or something similar, log to zuti.mine.nu:21000 Smile But as i said, the missions are few and not that interesting, yet.

Many thanks for this nice map !
