It would be a lawn dart for sure. See the problem is that the weight of the aircraft has to be roughly balanced over the main wing in the "Center of Lift". Think of the plane as a giant teeter totter with the nose being one end and the tail being the other. Now the pivot point or balance point comes from the area in the center "Roughly" of the main wing. That is why on most WWII aircraft the tail is alot longer than the nose, Because the nose is heavy with the armement and engine so they have to extend the tail to balance it out. Their is noooo way that aircraft could fly unless the nose engine had directed some of its thrust downwards as well to lift that long beak. Still darn cool looking though. And very well done from an artists perspective, just not from an engineering one

Thanks for that vpmedia, lots of nice stuff there!
As for the engineering aspect of the plane, I don't think it was intended to be realistic but rather an uber-cool comic book type craft. Just as a comic hero's muscles and features etc are exhaggerated to give him style and character, so is this plane's engine. Realism isn't an issue!

Thank you all for the replies!
YES- IT IS A FICTIVE FIGHTER, not intended for realism
So, basically my own kind of fun eyecandy! Concering conceptship website, I've talked to a
kind soul there who will post my jetfighter there too. I reckon more of my fighters and bombers will come up. Be ready for unrealism though.
I'm really glad that I got so many respones and productive critisism! I will certainly put the aerodynamic aspect into use when I'm up for the hard tasks of realistic machines too! Thanks all!
Keep posts coming and I'd be happy to see some designs of your own so I can rip them off! Hahaha! No, but seriously, it would be nice with some sketches and illustrations! From doodles with crayon to full-blown illustrations master-class!
Cheers!

Pirate Wrote:That is some fantastic artwork Shrimpkins. Really nice peice of design.
I draw myself, and tend towards concept stuff - I never seem to draw the same thing twice. And I'm in the process of learning to 'pimp' my artwork in PS. So I for one would be happy to see more from you.

I worked some time ago on a similar looking thing, which I didn't really like, tried to adapt the blue metallic color. Haven't done anything to it in a while...

Quote:My ambition is to quit my dayjob as construction worker building bridges and docks, and become a concept artist and illustrator! Very Happy I'm 20 and I draw daily, so perhaps one day... One can wish! Do you have any website or pictures? Would be nice if people started posting their doodles and airplanes! I'm a swede, but I remember when I first started drawing aeroplanes I bought the exotic magazine "Aeroplane" and drew LaGG-3s, haha!
Great idea, the chance to use your artistic talent in a day job should not be passed up.... seriously. I just wish I had been more dedicated to my artwork, but studying art at high school killed drawing for me for 6 years  I would happily murder my old art teacher given the chance  with a big sloppy grin on my face....
Have a look at
http://www.deviantart.com/ it would be a great place to show your work. I haven't yet put any of mine on there - most of it never seems finished, thats why i'm now using PS to make them seem like a final peice.
Keep it up Shrimpkins, especially being a swede:
they aren't generally known for their artistic talent....

Yes, I understand what you mean
I usually do more concepts and sketches for people and rarely have the abilities to make
good illustrations. I intend on going to artschool and learn more traditional art. I feel that it would be nice with a wide variety of experience, hence the jethips im trying to do now too
Other than this Im trying some portraits :

Environments :

But enough of that. I will post any new stuff on this thread.
Cheers!
