It was contracted in 1941, it was designed from 1941 to 1945, it didn't fly until 1946 so it's not a ww2 era plane? Yet IL2 is resplendent with numerous examples of planes that did not fly before May/August 1945. A World War 2 era vs a WW2 production.... eh "you say Po-TAY-To, I say Po TAH-to
The problem ALL ALONG for third party modelers is people complain what plane SHOULD be modeled, or what plane DESERVES to be modeled and third party modelers model THEIR OWN favorites, not everyone else's.
If ANYBODY wants to model me a plane from 1902 to 1959, I love them LONG time, they are my heroes.
to paraphrase George Bernard Shaw
He who can, does. He who cannot, kvetches
And this is NOT meant to be disrespectful of your opinions Radoye, and if it comes across that way I humbly apologize. I just feel MY opinions mean more than "nothing" too.

Of course you're entitled to have an opinion and my opinion is not more valid than yours in itself, without backing it up with some facts.
I always said Il-2 shall include planes up to and including Korea, so by these standards B-36 is a go. and of course i'm very thankful for every new plane we get, be it a 1920's biplane (not that we're getting much of those) or a 1950's jet.
But it's still not a WW2 plane. It became operational at the end of 1948, three years and change after WW2 ended. I can accept types such as the Bearcat and similar that missed the war by a few months as a "WW2 era" if not "WW2 production" but B-36 is Korea NOT WW2.
There's really no need trying to turn the B-36 into a WW2 plane (which it is not
), this bird has enough merit as-is to be included. Much more than Lerche and the like in any case.
So lets stick to the facts - a 1948 plane is NOT a WW2 plane, it's not even a 1946 plane.

If Oleg can give us planes that were never in WWII, then give us an alternative history to let is fly these planes in WWII - Why can't we?
You have to remember this version of the game itself is alternative history and includes "non-WWII planes"
Whatever, it doesn't really matter, I would help with the project if I wasn't on one already...
As for the engine count, we sould probobly just group the two left Jet engines as one and the two right Jet engines as one. Does it make any practical difference? They're so darn close it'd be almost impossible to damage one without damaging the other. If one engine blow's they're so close it'd destroy the other one. In that case we'd hit the max limit which is 8 engines...
This plane makes my mouth water, just sitting on the tarmac starting up those 19-foot propellers... and watching the puny little bite-sized fighters taxi while my plane eats up the entire width of the runway and the wings go over the sides... The fighters would look like small mice from the cockpit of this gargantuan monster. I can't even imagine what the payload must've been.

this plane kept the war cold, it kept the peace.

Agreed with you wholeheartly, and that is one of other reason why I truly dreamed of flying B-36 in this IL-2... The way you described her!
And secondly, I also strongly agree with you about that an alternative history that can come with history if done realistically, just like I explained in my post at viewtopic.php?t=11393.
Chaoic out...

Peacemaker would be a great mod. +1 on the idea.
