I will bet you money that Fireball can figure it out! Big Grin

I sure hope so!

What i meant to say is that i'm unaware of anyone actually managing to solve that problem so far. This is why we don't have amphib Catalinas so far either...

I can't think of a single word to describe how that looks. No words seem to do it justice. Excellent, beautiful work. Waiting patiently for this and many others.

She's just gorgeous ! Outstanding work !

I hope the model is convertible to FB standards and can be imported into the game.

Cheers

Oh man, that looks amazing! Can't wait to see her implemented into the game!
But guys, seriously, you can land a hydroplane on dry land and a regular plane on water quite easily. Taking off is the problem...

Hi!

Finally a widely employed hidroplane of USN will plough our skies!!!

A very wonderful job!!!

I don't see why it's such a problem, just have the gear use floating bouys with wheels inside, but just so that the tire barely pokes out. That's what they did in real life on some planes, i've seen it before but I can't remember where. :?

- ex_RAAF_Elecfitter - 18.01.2009

That is beautiful work. One of the best so far, and I cant wait to fly it.

Uh!

I just splooged meself!

I always wondered about this aircraft - I never would've thought it might fit into an aerial combat simulator... But who's complaining? I love it!

Super great work!

- MR_G - 18.01.2009

Probably have to make two slots. One for wheels, and one for water.
It would also be nice for someone to make a slot for a PBY with wheels and torps.

- Pirate - 19.01.2009

It looks to me to be a model that they might want to convert to fit the IL2 engine.... I very much doubt we will see this model flying in game as it is in these photos... if at all.

Not likely to be a popular suggestion, sorry about that.

It is possible to give it amphibious functions. The problem with most amphibious planes is that the gear animation is doubled: one for the floats, one for the wheels. Here we do not have this problems and thus it would be relatively easy to include this one in the game.

That's BS. The animations isn't any problem. Assigning the floats to brand new key command isn't any problem. All the same problems that i described in PBY thread remains with this plane.

Float doesn't magically act like a float just because it's modelled like one. And the wheels for every plane are just decorations. Rip off the wheels and the plane works perfectly like nothing has happened. Functionality is in the invisible hooks that are attached to wheel struts and these cannot exist in two places at the same time. And that's just a small part of the whole problem.
