+1 to all that's been said, you did a great job on this !

However, your MOD will disable the new crashed planes smoke effect coming with the UI (the one with a thicker plume as opposed to the default thin vertical column )

One way to fix this is to make sure the EFFECTS folder that installs with the UI is loaded before your mod. (The game loads folders within the MODS folder by alphabetical order )

To ensure that is the case and you get the best of both worlds, simply rename your folder so it comes after E in the alphabetical order. Then you get both your great smoke and the new, much more realistic plume

Cheers

Nico

Thank you for the heads up about this Porco, I collected this mod with U.I. 1.0 and your suggestion is right for 1.1 (making a note in 1st post about this  ) thank again

My pleasure Big Grin .

After some more thorough testing, there may be a little side effect to loading the folders in that order. I am using the version of the MOD with shorter fuel leaks, but since I renamed your folder, the fuel leaks appear to be longer than the thick smoke.

Also, the Japanese kamikaze flying bomb's engine uses the default 1C smoke. Did your MOD modify it before ? I'm thinking that the same may be true for the V-2 rocket. Really not a big problem, as those are aircraft you don't come across that often...

No other jets seem to be affected, except of course the smoke trail at 100% throttle has disappeared, but I can live with that.

The more I see this new smoke, the more I like it BTW. This is really a great MOD !

Cheers

Nico

So, it should be labelled F1_Goblin_Fx_Smoke+Fire?

- VonBarb. - 05.02.2009

Yep, that would work fine.

Thank you.

I'd like to test that smoke, but every time I try to DL it I get an invalid link error.
I've already tried Firefox and IE but none of them worked...idea someone? :?

A bit OT perhaps: which mod must be before this one? EngineFire? Or some other smoke mod starting with E? Just asking so i can check it out.

And i'm loving this one too Wink

Basically you need to disable any mod containing smoke effects for damaged planes, or there will be conflicts.
MODs that introduce new 'types of smoke' (lacking the tech vocabulary here, sorry) like engine flames, should be loaded first, with Goblin's MOD being loaded last.

I have my engine flames MOD loaded before this one, so I get no flames on startup, just a puff of white smoke.

Smoke MODs have a nasty tendency to interfere with each other, so it's up to the user to define what they prefer.

The funny bit is that when I was using 3rdEye's Smoke&Fire MOD, the engine startup effect used the thick smoke/fire effect, while now that I'm using Goblin's MOD, it uses the light grey/white smoke without flames. I need to investigate this deeper...

Cheers

That's a LIE ! lol. I do get the flames on startup, I just didn't notice them the first time around.

Goblin and PorccoRocco - Grom29 - 09.02.2009

Do you have 100% engine smoke at Me-262, Go-229, Me-163 ?

I delete all other smoke folders in MOD.

Thanks

- Spinnetti - 09.02.2009

When you unpack the download, you have the folder
"1_Goblin_Fx_Smoke+Fire"

the file "ReadMe-2"

and a third file

"RedLeakTSPD.eff"

so he is asking where that third file should go.

Right m8, and thank you very much for the heads upSmile , this is my mistake/forgot to delete. PLEASE ANYONE USING THIS MOD CAN DELETE "RedLeakTSPD : the one that is out of folder "1_Goblin_Fx_Smoke+Fire2" because the functional one is yet into mod-folder,- pardon all.

NOTE: D/L FILE IS UPDATED AND CORRECT NOW!----
