Can you be more specific by what you mean with "curvy stripes"? Perhaps point to an area on one of our skins?
Weathering, if you want one done quick just find a texture layer etc...
I know I have my own skins on it but mine just takes unnecessarily long anyway lol I have 80mb templates that open faster than my 32mb temp lol
What I'm talking about is the fuselage stripe. Harpia_mafra did a skin with a red stripe going around the nose at an angle. It's in the skins download area. I looked at it in download and tried to figure out he did it. I've seen similar work on, I think, one of your skins, though I can't remember for sure at the moment. For some reason I just can't get those "bends" Mine always come out as a straight line that looks goofy.

I have used the texture layers in the past and have one or two still in the posted template. What I'm talking about is chipped paint. Any tips?

Sorry, I know u probably meant exhaust etc but since I'm not a fan of weathering, don't ask why I just don't. I don't know how to apart from with textures. But I know how to make my F-86 look like it's completely on fire and have bullet holes down the side... lol
Bright Export - Guest - 11.04.2009
Firstly I would like to say that, as one who has developed a simple template for this aircraft to produce my "painted" skins, I fully appreciate the work and research that has gone into this and I thank you for sharing it with the community in such an unselfish manner.. This is exactly the spirit that makes this a "community".
Weathering on aircraft is a fact of life.. all aircraft suffer from it, it does make for a more realistic scenario and produce fantastic screen shots if nothing else.
On a technical point, I use "Bright" to export my skins from Photoshop into IL2 as it adjusts the colour pallet to provide a better colour balance and sharper less "grainy" skins. However, "Bright" does not do Alpha layers.... The result is quite interesting and completely useless. I would advise that anyone who also uses "Bright" to export skins into the game removes the alpha layers from the template. The change/loss is not noticable and the damage model still works.

Can't open the file with Paint Shop Pro - Salty54 - 11.04.2009
US_Grant,
Down loaded the template but Paint Shop Pro 7.0 can't open it. Says its an undefined error. I assume that this is Photoshop? Anybody else having a problem opening the template? I was really looking forward to tinkering around with this today.

Yes it is photoshop...

Very mutch anticipated.
Could you please share the fonts you are using on this template?
I have a couple of USAF fonts from Simmers Paintshop but according to my PS CS3, there is no match yours... :?
Thanks in advance.
To the best of my knowledge, I only used the fonts that were already there. The only one that could possibly be different is the one I use to give PeterD and Lieuwe credit for the original template. That one is called Georgia; other than that, I don't think I have any others on there that didn't come with it when I DL'd it from PeterD.
BTW, I use the same fonts from Simmerspaintshop too.
I think he is looking at the USAF. Notice on most skins people have done that the F is normal but in real life and at least on my skins, I haven't noticed others yet but GRANT probably did the same the F has slanted edges. Also if you find proper good profiles notice the number 5 is completely different. So far I believe we as skinners don't know what font it is if it is one. So the F just has certain edges rubbed out so it is slanted and the 5 I haven't figured out so I don't do any skins with a 5 on the 3 letter tail code.
Belive it or not, I found a decal sheet on the net that was big enough for me to use and Bo_Nidle also has the USAF with the slanted F that he sent to me. The slanted F is included in the template under the layer "Alternate USAF", for those that have been able to use my template.
Sorry goes out to the guys using Paintshop Pro. I don't know why it won't open this file. It is in PSD format, but since I don't use Paintshop Pro, I can't even begin to guess at a solution.
This is the Decal sheet is was talking about. Hopefully you can copy it from this post and use it. Came in real handy for me. I think I even tried to use the checker tail on a skin.

US_Grant,
PaintShop Pro should be able to open the file. It recognizes and also saves files to the Photoshop format. Is it possible to save the template in Photoshop to Paintshop Pro file format? If you can, can you email the file to me at djshio@yahoo.com. I would greatly appreciate it. Very nice work you've done!

One other thought, if you can't save as Paintshop Pro file, can you include a blank bmp without any markings in your download? That would serve as a work around.
Thanks!

Not possible, photoshop is the main common format hence Paintshop Pro can save in .psd But as always the main one cannot save in other less used formats.
