This map also uses NTL_Darwin forest textures

If you do not have this map installed - then swap the following text in the load.ini:

[WOOD]
Wood0 = forest/summer/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood0.tga
Wood1 = forest/summer/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood1.tga
Wood2 = forest/summer/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood2.tga
Wood3 = forest/summer/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood3.tga
Wood4 = forest/summer/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood4.tga

for this:

[WOOD]
Wood0 = Italy_DF/forest/summer/itawood0.tga
Wood1 = Italy_DF/forest/summer/itawood1.tga
Wood2 = Italy_DF/forest/summer/itawood2.tga
Wood3 = Italy_DF/forest/summer/itawood3.tga

Please see my edited instructions in the initial post. The install instructions should read:

1)Add the folder VKG_Grand_Canyon to the path:

IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/Mods/Mapmods/Maps/

2)Add the following text to your all.ini (IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/Mods/Mapmods/all.ini)

VKG_Grand_Canyon VKG_Grand_Canyon/load.ini

3)Add the folder Grand_Canyon (containing the textures) to:
IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/Mods/mapmods/maps/_Tex/land/summer/

Edit: Link has been updated with the corrected instructions

The solution with swapping tree texture (I guess it is so) from the darwin to the stock italy one works for those who has not installed darwin map and were suffering from loading crash. BTW one more time thanks for the map!

I had a problem at first but thats because I added the contents of the grand_canyon to tex/land/summer but I took the folder itself and placed it in tex/land summer and it works great.

Glad to hear people are getting it working. I may repack including the Darwin tree textures for those who don't have them b/c I think they look a lot better for this landscape, if Neil Lowe doesn't mind. Cheers - viking

missions all save, very nice.

Well, looks like we're in for a little "state-side" training before the group is shipped overseas, via Hawaii.
The town, close by the airfield, is not much to speak of but the tavern has cold beer, Glenn Miller on the jukebox and girls that like to dance.
